INTRODUCTION
Dulquer Salmaan is a versatile and promising young talent actor in the Indian Mollywood film
business. Dulquer is the most sought star and heartthrob of Keralites, popularly known as
DQ and Kunjikka. Dulquer is also a playback singer, film producer, and businessman. DQ
augmented his acting career with critical and commercially successful movies across various
genres in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema. The acclaimed actor won three
Filmfare awards in the south and a SIIMA award. Salmaan played the titular character in the
romantic drama of Martin Prakkat's Charlie (2015), for which he won the Kerala State Film

EARLY LIFE
Dulquer Salmaan was born in Kochi, Kerala on July 28th, 1986 (zodiac sign: Leo), to
Malayalam renowned actor Mammootty and Sulfath, as the younger brother to his sister
Surumi. After his schooling in Chennai, DQ received his Bachelor’s degree in Business
Management from Purdue University in Indiana, USA. Initially, He sought to overlook his
family’s business ventures. However, his acting gene stepped in and he joined the famous
Barry John Acting Studio in Mumbai for a three-month course.
PERSONAL LIFE
Dulquer Salmaan is married to Chennai-based architect Amal Sufiya in an arranged
marriage on 22 December 2011. The lovely couple was blessed with a Daughter Maryam
Ameerah Salmaan.
CAREER
Salmaan made his first silver screen appearance with his friend Srinath Rajendran’s debut
project Second Show 2012, in which he played the role of the gangster. Film Second Show
got appreciation from both viewers and critics. His next project Ustad Hotel directed by
Anwar Rasheed earned him his first Filmfare award for Best Male Debut along with critical
and commercial success. His other prominent Malayalam movies Theevram, comedy film
ABCD: American- Born Confused Desi, in which he made his debut as a singer, Sameer
Thahir`s road movie Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, Salalah Mobiles, Pattam
Pole and Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram, Vikramadhityan, and others well received
by the viewers. In 2014, Dulquer starred alongside Nivin Pauly, Nazriya Nazim, Fahadh
Faasil, Nithya Menen, Parvathy, and Isha Talwar in the beautifully scripted romantic
comedy-drama Bangalore Days, which became one of the biggest blockbusters in the
history of Malayalam cinema. Thereafter, he excelled and gained many opportunities in
different languages. Salmaan’s jaw-dropping moment came in the year 2015, as he forayed
into Tamil Kollywood cinema through master director Mani Ratnam`s romantic drama O
kadhal Kanmani and its Telugu version Ok Bangaram. Later, the same movie was dubbed in
Hindi as Ok Jaanu under Karan Johar’s production. DQ debuted in Telugu Tollywood cinema
with the biographical drama Mahanati. He also made his mark in Hindi, Bollywood cinema
through Karwaan alongside Irrfan Khan and The Zoya Factor as a co-star of Sonam Kapoor.
BUSINESS AND SOCIAL SERVICE
DQ is an entrepreneur and avid motorcyclist. He owns many businesses, which include a
web portal for trading cars and a dental business chain in Chennai. He also serves as the
Director of Bangalore-based Motherhood Hospital. Dulquer is active in many social service
activities. To promote the safe driving campaign, he acted in a short film for the Kerala motor
vehicle department.
