c) AC terminal power
d) AC line current
e) Thyristor Current

2. The single-phase full wave converter feeding an RLE load has 𝐿 = 6𝑚𝐻, 𝑅 = 0.5Ω and 𝐸 = 10𝑉. The
input voltage is 𝑉𝑠 = 120𝑉 at 60Hz. Determine the load current for:
a) 𝛼 = 60°
b) The average thyristor current
c) The rms thyristor current
d) The rms output current
e) The average output current
f) The critical delay (firing) angle

3. The load current of a three-phase full converter is continuous with negligible ripple content.
a) Express the input current in Fourier Series, and determine the harmonic factor (HF) of input current, the
displacement factor (DF) and the input power factor (PF).
𝜋
b) If the delay angle 𝛼 = 3 , calculate HF, DF and PF.

4. A three phase fully controlled thyristor converter is connected to a three-phase AC supply of 400V, 50Hz

360V. Compute: -
a) Source inductance
b) Load resistance
c) Overlap angle

5. A three-phase full wave converter is operated from a three-phase Y connected 208V, 60Hz power supply
and the load resistance is 10Ω. If it is required to obtain an average output voltage of 50% of the maximum
possible output voltage, calculate: -
a) The delay angle, 𝛼
b) The rms and average output currents
c) The rms and average thyristor currents
d) The rectification efficiency.
