This document discusses three aspects of living in a multicultural world: moral diversity, moral imagination, and moral compromise. It states that our individual identities are shaped by our backgrounds and environments. Moral diversity allows us to recognize weaknesses in our own moral values and find solutions. Moral imagination involves envisioning creative ways to resolve conflicts through empathy and alternatives. Moral compromise is necessary when moral imagination is unavailable; it requires all parties to find mutual conformity without compromising their moral values. The document provides examples of Nestle innovating healthier products through moral imagination and peace talks between the Moros and Philippine government as a form of moral compromise.

world
Individuality and Moral Excellence, Diversity
Our personal backgrounds moulds our own identity. Each and everyone one of us is born unique and as
we grow up, we develop our personal desires and moral values to uphold. The environment we belong
holds a great influence on the essence of our individuality. It is said that one of the objectives of being an
individual is to achieve moral excellence to reveal our true state. For instance, Mahatma Ghandi was
known for his moral leadership thus, creating change without resorting to violence. Moral diversity
establishes great potential in solving the imperfectness of one’s moral values. Pluralism gives space to
solve these weaknesses and recognizing that diversity could be utilized positively.
Moral Imagination
And this leads to moral imagination, envisioning creativity in resolving conflicts. It lays down what could
be possible and attained in moral disputes. Moral imagination produces alternatives that activates
empathy towards other moral concepts. Being more ethical is the idea of moral imagination. And it is an
expression of empathy and creativity of people because one cannot exercise moral imagination without
the intention of solving conflicts in a much better position and encompassing empathy towards others.
Moral Compromise
And if moral imagination is not available in the solution, this is where moral compromise becomes
indispensable. Parties must agree to a mutual conformity wherein everyone is satisfied without taking
down their moral values. It is important that both sides are agreeing on their constituted compromises
because if one party does not fully agree then moral compromised is said to be in a position of bad faith.
Conflicts are constant and inevitable. The idea of pluralists that moral pluralism is flexible and any other
conflicting values are respect worthy gives the avenue for adapting and compromising.
Examples of what influences our moral identity are sex, gender, age, race, and culture. Every element
have its differences towards others that makes our moral identity personal to us and similar to others.
In moral imagination, in terms of business, Nestle is known for its products that are high in sugar, fat and
instant food products. To realize moral imagination, they’ve innovated their products that are also suitable
for young children and produced more healthier products.
And lastly moral compromise, peace talks between the moros of Mindanao and the Philippine
government have been a persisting news every year. Their disputes in moral values as moros resort to
armed rebellion to express their claim for self determination through autonomy. Both parties realize that
an autonomy could be a possible solution. Therefore, they agreed to a peace talks known as the
(Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro).
