UNIT 1 COMMUNICATION

1. What make a good communication.

Active listening: Being a good listener is one of the best ways to be a good
communicator
Confident: Confidence in the crowd. Able to express ideas well
Responsive: easily respond to unexpected questions from others
Persuasive: able to convince others when you present your point
Read body languages: Pay as much attention to body languages of other, and you’ll
discover facts and opinions that people are unwilling to express directly.

How to learn these skills?

- Make communication a priority. Take classes, read books, magazine articles or learn
from successful communicators around you
- Develop your listening skills, too. The best communicators are almost always the best
listeners. Listen without judgment and don’t be distracted by thinking about what you
want to say next
- Regularly attend group presentations o improve your present skill.
What makes a bad communicator?
- Speak hesitantly, not fluently, vague.
- Feel inhibited, sensitive when talking to others.

2. How to improve communication in your organization.

o Create A Communication-Friendly Space
It’s your role as a manager to make sure that there is always a clear and constant flow of
communication on your team. Speaking up about feelings or sharing ideas and intiatives.
You need to encourage your team to express themselves by creating a communication-
friendly environment.
o Communicate Face To Face
Using tools like Fax and email or messega are often the most efficient, however,
sometime it’s important to need remember that face to face communication has a great
amount of value in terms of honestly and exactly. Part of communication is human
interaction, so let try to communicate face to face more, try speaking instead of typing. It
will better.
o Take time to listen
If you are a mangager. Try to listen employees to understand more about them.
Listening to employees allows them to have more space to give honest and transparent
feedback. When you talking with them, try to repaeat what they said, not only will they
feel like you were truly listening, but it also makes sure that there are no
misunderstandings.
3. Face to face communication cannot be beaten
Technological development have made the world easy to communicate by many
sources. With a busy life and easy way of communication people are avoiding face to
face communication. We communicate over e-mails, text or phone, but even then, but
sometimw it misunderstanding. So I think nothing can replace the value of face to face
communication.
First of all, by face to face communication we can express the person's attitude, words,
facial expression, gesture, body language, tone of voice and many more.
Secondly, prevent and resolve conflicts, express the feelings directly. Resolving conflicts
over phone, e-mails is a waste of time. You can't see the person's face or body language
to solve the problem and it will be on going thing
Furthermore, face to face communication can eliminate lonely and stress that come from
sitting alone in front of computer or just sending text. Using computers and phones too
much is not good for health, especially eyes. Sometime we communicate with foreign,
and English is languages global, some jokes said in mother language can't be effectively
expressed word to word in English with funny body language.
In short, face to face communication helps to know the other person's reaction, best way
to express our feelings, reduces stress by communicating directly. Face to face
communication can not be replaced by any-other means. Best way to understand clearly
and save time with no more long messages.

UNIT 2 INTERNATIONAL MARKETING

1. What are some of the problems companies may face when they try to
internationalize a brand?

o The Physical Distance.

Although you may use the Internet and telephones to communicate overseas, but it may
not be as effective as talking to your potential customers and your distribution partners,
not to mention costs related to freight, logistics and shipping.

o Unfamiliar Cultures
Do you know the most common behaviors in the country you are looking to expand into?
What about the way in which people interact with each other in a social setting?
Overcoming this cultural challenge is important for expending your brand so that you can
assimilate with the people who will become your customers.

o Tariffs and Export Fees

Most countries have some type of tariff or fee that is charged to companies bringing
goods into their country. You need to know about these tariffs so you can incorporate
them into the financial planning element of your globalization plans
o Human Resources
When taking your business global, it is important to consider how you will respone the
human resources requirements for operating in a foreign country. You may need to hire
new team members.

o Choosing the Right Countries

You need to have done enough research to understand where the best place to expand
is. If you have some options, analyze the relative benefits and drawbacks of each
country to determine which markets are most ideal for globalization.

2. What are some of the advantages / drawbacks of standardized global

advertising?
- Some advantages
Expanding markets and build more relationships
Extending the brand to the international market
And building fame for the company.

- Some drawbacks may include: costs, control over the advertisements

overseas, and fake products produced overseas
It costs a lot of money: inviting celebrities, influencers to advertise their products as well
as promote the brand
products made abroad are easy to be counterfeited.
Because it is a global ad, it is so large in scale that it is difficult to control ads abroad

3. How can build good business relationship

o Business Relationship Is Based On Trust
Never take advantage of people. Never. Don’t even let them think that you’d do so. It’s
the quickest way to destroy a relationship and build a bad reputation that can harm other
relationship too. The key to building trust is being honest. Do the right things and be
dependable, and you’ll see your relationships grow stronger.

o Showing A Interest In Others

Showing interest in others is an early step to gaining respect and building a business
relationship. One bad attitude need to avoid in a relationship. Listen to what people
have to say and show sincere interest in them.

o Work Hard
This is one of the strategies to prove to market yourself. People no longer buy
knowledge, they buy results. People need you to prove yourself worthy before they
invest in you. "Believe me"? - no body can belive and invest to you if you just say that,
let prove yourself by result.

o Face-to-face communication
We connect virtually today, 90% of our connections are virtual. But you can always take
your business relationship to another level by meeting in person.
What can spoil relation between companies?
If companies don't set a negotiations or to set clear objectives, it also can spoil relations
between them. Too stormy or strained relations can be a reason of even broken
relations. You don’t listen. You lack credibility. Failure to take responsibility. Don’t play
the blame game

4. Why do some brand / products fail in other countries? Examples?

There are many reason brand/products fail in other countries.
It can not adapt with cultural, traditional and economic.
In VN, Mc Donal fail in my country because MC has to compete with traditional food,
street food and other brands such as: KFC, Lotte… Mc Donal’s price is higher than other
brands. It is not suitable for Vietnamese people's income. Vietnamese like eating street
food than eat resterand food.
Give some examples of products or services which are targeted at niche markets.
TH true milk products which are targeted at niche markets which is Russian.
The Russian market is a potential market, people here like to use dairy products.
Russia is the third largest milk importer in the world.
The Russian government has a policy to help foreign companies develop the dairy
industry in Russia.

5. Do you agree that designer luxury goods are always higher quality than non-designer
goods?
Yes, I agree. Luxury products always have a professional design team, they are the
leading fashion designers in the world, they have a lot of experience, expertise,
creativity.
Luxury brands have paid a lot of money for designers, sometimes the quality of products
is not really high like the price, the amount customers pay includes services and brands.

Understanding a country's culture is a sign of respect. It also helps to promote effective

communication. creating relationships in business, easy to negotiate and easy to
cooperate

Japan: Always be on time in every meeting, exchange of business cards, attaching great
importance to office fashion (men must wear dark suits, businesswomen are encouraged
to wear dark clothes but are luxurious, less wear jewelry)
Develop mutual respect
Capture the information of customers, people around
Learn about the cultures of countries before doing business
develop language skills
Seek benefits for both parties
Continue to maintain contact when cooperated

UNIT 4 JOB SATISFACTION

1. Which types of risks do you think will become more significant for companies in the
next 50 years? What types of risks will be less significant?

Operational risks
Financial risks
Hazard
Strategic risks
in my opinion, in the next 50 years, the most significant type of risk for companies is
hazard risk because of the climate change, resources in the earth is limited and it's
running out, with the companies that specialize in the exploitation of resources, they
have to find other kind of resource beside natural resources or one day, all natural
resources might depleted and they wont be able to run company and, the climate
change also a problem too, due to human impact, climate increasingly harsh you can
see the effect of storms, such as the tsunami in japan
2. Companies should be fully involved in the lives of their employees. Do you agree?

If companies are fully involved in the lives of their employees, or care so deeply about
employee’s lives, I think it’s not good so I don’t agree. But if they take care at a suitable
level, I total agree with it. Because in work, manager is the person who has power to
require and delegate task to employees, but in addition, manager also should become a
friend to care and share at the time staff need. Involving in employee’s lives will make
the quality of work better. Because, when employee feel comfortable, they don’t have
anything to worry, they can concentrate in working. For example, after a so long project
which make everyone feel exhausted, then manager should give a bonus of money or a
short holiday for staff. It can motivate spirit of employees. Involving in staff’s lives is also
responsibility of managers. It is very necessary in each company, and involving in staff’s
lives will make the relationship between employee and employer better
3.What will inspire you at work?
Work is what u have to do everyday so each day u should feel comfortable when you
start working. For an employee, the business culture is what can inspire him at most.
Back to the past, when he applied for a company, what attracted him firstly and mostly is
the business culture. Maybe the salary in that company is not as high as others, maybe
the workspace is not totally clean or creative but all of that things can be ignored if that
company have a good business culture. Business culture is the face of the whole
company. It reflects the spirit of company and from it, you can know what benefit you
would gain if you worked for that company. Working in a company with good business
culture will make you feel more satisfied than a company with high salary but poor
business culture.
4.What do you find satisfying and frustrating about your work?
Firstly, things often cause in frustration on the job:
- Unfair treatment.
- The strict manager control the staffs then create the pressure
- Employees of companies are often talks back and hinder
- The work environment does not meet
Secondly, what makes employees satisfied at work?
- Salary to be able to cover reasonable living (job security)
- There are opportunities to advance
- To tell the thoughts and opinions of themselves, are recognized
5. Would you prefer a male or female boss? Why?
When we work in any company, we usually don’t have the chance to choose our boss.
However, if I can choose, I prefer to work with male boss.
In general, male boss and female boss now are all trained through manager training
course therefore they have the same base and knowledge to handle with staffs.
However, they still have their own characteristic which directly related to how they
behave with employees. Female tend to bring their emotion in work, they also not
decisive. However, if working with male boss, we can feel less pressure than female
because women usually sensitive, concern much to staffs.
In contrast, male boss tend to be focus much on performance of staff. He treats quite fair
among people and usually don’t have someone’s fault in mind. I have experience that I
worked part-time for a café shop, female boss often treat unfair between me and a boy
colleagues. I feel really unmotivated. Therefore, working with male boss will make me
feel more comfortable, it’s one of reasons I choose male boss.
6. What advice can you give people who are looking for success?

First of all, you must find yourself an industry which you really love because any job; any
field has its own difficulties. If you give up halfway because that is difficult and
frustrating, surely you cannot be successful.
Secondly, you should have a basic knowledge of what you do. If you do not concern
about what you do, the related information you do not understand, you cannot work with
it.
Thirdly, you have to have vision and strategies planning. Everyone wants to succeed, so
if you want more people you have clear vision, should be more highlight than others.
There is clear direction, you have to plan clearly, measurable, and you can use SWOT
analysis to find a suitable plan.
Fourthly, you should learn from those who have experienced success and failure. The
learned and experience will help you how apply good things for the company and
manage the difficulties that you may encounter.
7. What can spoil relations between companies?
Between companies we have 2 general relationships:
- Be competitor
Companies in the same industry not only compete but also have relationship between
others.
The relationship is how to compete fairly with other competitor. The spoiled of the
relationship between the company competitors use industrial espionage. The company
stole the idea of the company's products or use dirty methods to make bad image of
other companies’ products.
- Be partner, they cooperate together
The cooperation of companies nowadays is very common. The cooperation will bring
benefits to both the 2 companies, increase revenues, expand market share. Examples of
cooperation are KFC and Pepsi or a collaboration of the business hotels and tourist
companies.
Maintaining this relationship is essential. However, this relationship can be spoiled by
the following factors:
- Loss of trust
- Always think of ourselves, do not think for partners.
- Betrayed
8. If your organizations want to enter an overseas market, what questions should you
consider?
Market norm
Well, each market has different characteristics. Prior to entering a foreign market, a
supplier must study and develop an understanding of the norms in the market.
Understand how the new foreign market differs from the domestic market.
Do sales teams sell goods or services directly? Do sales flow through distributors or
manufacturers' representatives?
Profile of the buyer
Understand their culture, behavior. Investigate income level- do they have enough
financial ability to pay for your product.
Find a champion customer. By establishing a special relationship with a specially
selected customer, the champion customer becomes more important than just a buyer of
goods or services. Select a customer for its strategic value. Establish a special
relationship through a number of methods.

Can you beat competitor?

In the oversea market, we not only have local competitor but also have competitor who
comes from other countries. So….

9. Are there any ways to improve communication between companies and their
customers in the future?
Thanks to the modern technology, it is easier for companies to communicate with their
customers for example, meet face to face (directly) We can hold some events and invite
your customers to take part in or participate in some sports (go fishing, play tennis)
Secondly, set up a website/forum/fan page on facebook/ twitter these ways help
customers give feedback about the companies (their products/service) easily and the
companies can understand the feelings/hobbies of their customers the third way is
communicating via telephone
10. Face-to-face
Agree, ‘cause face-to-face communication can bring a lot of benefits that other types of
communication (e.g., email or phone) cannot. When we communicate face-to-face we
are able to pick up on nonverbal cues that we might otherwise miss. Email can be easily
misinterpreted , whereas nonverbal cues such as smiling, nodding, folding arms,
frowning, and a host of other signals add meaning to our conversations.

Another thing, face-to-face co. can make connection between others easier, it also an
opportunity to build strong social relationships and create social bonding that in turn
fosters a sense of belonging ; it different with between the interactions that through over
the phone or online. In business, managers who make an effort to communicate with
employees face-to-face can build strong relationships and enhance trust.
In addition,
1.
Face to face meetings occur in real time, while computer-generated messaging is often
delayed because the messages are not read right away or are intercepted by a technical
mistake.
4.
Face-to-face meetings ensure that detailed information can be disseminated (pho bien),
facts can be checked, issues can be identified and addressed, input can be collected
and questions can be asked -- all at once.
8.
Face-to-face meetings are conducive to a fun working environment because they allow
participants the freedom to inject humour and express emotion that is absent from digital
communications.
10.
Face-to-face meetings can alleviate (lam giam bot) = reduce the feelings of isolation and
stress that come from sitting alone at a desk all day. Humans are social creatures by
nature. By interacting in person, people can obtain and offer social support through
sharing ideas, assistance, news and information with one another.
When employees interact in person, they naturally feel more engaged with one another,
with their work and with their organization. That's something that simply can't be
communicated with instant messaging.
