the device you can see in the picture is a digital multimeter. the reason why we call this a digital 
multimeter is that of its measures and gives you the results in the form of digits as you can see in the

Multimeter Probes 
 
now, first of all, you need to understand what probes are as you can see there are two probes which are 
commonly used with digital multimeters the first one is a black colored one the second one is a red 
colored one  

 
 
and these two probes have very specific positions where you need to place them on the multimeter now 
the first one is a black probe now the black probe has to be placed at a point where it is written as Com 
which basically signifies a common range so the black probe has to be placed only in the common range  
 

 
 
place it there and press it and it will fit in tightly there right above that  you will see a symbol where it is 
written as voltage-ampere M a this is where you take readings of voltage-ampere etc and you place the 
red probe here press it tightly so it can fit in right above that is another point where you can check higher 
values of electricity with the meter however commonly in a multimeter.

How To Check Battery Of A Cell Phone With Multimeter

Us we knew battery consumption has become a very common problem in today's cell phones and smartphones. 
It's easy to test voltage on any cell phone battery with the help of the analog and digital multimeter. in 
electronics, the symbol V is the unit of voltage. The method of checking a phone battery is the same for all 
brands and models iPhone, HTC new phone, Sony Xperia, Huawei Smartphone, Motorola Lenovo, LG, Nokia 6, 
ZTE Nubia, Micromax mobile, iPod classic, BlackBerry, etc.  
Carefully remove the battery from the cell phone. you can read battery voltage on the label of the battery. Most 
feature phones and smartphone batteries are 3.7V or 3.8Volts. Now find the digital multimeter DC Volt setting 
on the meter measurement scale. It may be indicated with DCV. In DCV (DC Voltage) there will be many settings 
like 2V, 20V, 200V, 1000V. Keep the setting on 10V or 20V in a multimeter.  

 
 
Now follow the picture below to touch the probe of the multimeter on the terminal of the battery. 
 

 
 
Remember, Keep probes touched until you see a stable reading on the reading scale of the meter. If the reading 
scale on the meter shows more than 3.70 then the battery is fully charged. And if it is less than 3.70 you will have 
to charge the battery with a charger. after charging for a long time with the phone original charger, if the battery 
is still showing the same volt on the meter, then the battery is faulty. your cell phone will not switch on. You will 
need to buy a new battery because it is not repairable.  
Note:​ If the battery is drained and showing 0 voltage or say less than 2.9, you can repair it with the battery 
booster.

What is the battery booster? 
 
Now, a battery booster is mainly used when you need to boost a dead battery. Many times when I get cell phones 
for repairing they might be no battery left out in it and I may need to have a little bit of charge. you may need a 
little bit of charge in the battery to be able to test or check it out. So at that moment, we use the battery booster 
to ensure that they are able to jumpstart the battery a little- similar to what you do in four-wheelers when you 
have to jumpstart your car batteries when it's dead or very low. So, that is where we used this booster. 

 
 
How many amps should a battery booster have? 
 
battery booster gives a standard output of 500 milli ampere and it's a fixed output booster gives that can be 
used to temporarily boost the battery of cell phone. 
 
DC Current Measuring on battery booster 
 
now let's try and understand how we can check DC Current​ ​we are going to be using a battery booster to 
test this so we switched on the 12 volts DC adapter with 1 ​Ampere​  
 

 
 
this is a device that is used to boost cell phone batteries and we are going to connect the output wire of 
this to the probes and we are going 
 

 
 
to be testing the voltage of the output now we connect the two output wires of the booster to the two 
probes of the multimeter make sure that you connect it to the right and so the black and the 
 

 
 
black red in the red and you can see this is around three point eight (3.8)volts so this is the 
DC voltage that we have measured and you can measure DC voltage by placing it at the 
Range Switch at the right position on the DC voltage set so whenever this is typically how 
you do your measurements of DC voltage on battery Booster 
 
How long does it take to charge a battery with a battery booster? 
 
We typically switch battery booster on and once you switch it on you have the power output 
coming out. if you are using DC Power supply to booster the battery you can change the 
voltage output that is given by the Power supply, depending on the device or depending on 
the cell phone and smartphone battery you can choose the voltage, adjust the voltage and a 
boost the battery. 
 

 
 
You can see in the picture a plus and minus point you can place the black probe and the red 
probe here, which basically can be connected to a phone battery and boost the battery. So, 
using this you will be able to boost the battery of any cell phone and traditional battery 
booster and is a very effective tool that might be required for battery boosting. if you boost 
your battery with battery booster and battery is still draining very fast even after fully 
charging it, you will have to check it on another same model cell phone. In such a case an 
analog and the digital multimeter will not help because multimeter just shows you how 
much your battery is charged. remember if your phone battery’s inside chemical has 
become weak or worn out, the battery will discharge quickly. if you check your battery on 
the same model cell phone and its discharged fast in it too, the battery is faulty. buy a new 
battery for your cell phone and check. If the problem is not solved your phone is still
