Methodology Research Design The Researchers Will Utilize The Quantitative Research To Gather Data For This

The researchers will use a quantitative survey to gather data from 103 grade 11 and 12 students about their self-esteem and perceptions of teacher behavior. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and Perceived Teacher Behaviors Scale will be combined and distributed via Google Forms. Data will be analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and the Likert scale to describe results.

METHODOLOGY

RESEARCH DESIGN
The researchers will utilize the quantitative research to gather data for this
study. Creswell (2002) defined quantitative research as the process of collecting,
analyzing, interpreting, and writing the results of a study. In this method, the data that
will gathered from the survey will be determined through numerical analysis.

Under the quantitative research design, the researchers choose the descriptive
non-experimental method. According to Ary (2010), descriptive research is
scientific research that describes about event, phenomena or fact systematically dealing
with certain area or population. Researchers utilize the descriptive design for them to read
or describe the data they gathered from the survey. Mean and standard deviation is use
for the computation of data for the researchers to determine the answers on their research
questions. Moreover, the Verbal Description of the Likert Scale will be used to describe
the tabulated statistics.

POPULATION AND SAMPLE OF THE STUDY

The researchers gathered their data to the selected Grade 11 and 12 students
residing at San Miguel and San Rafael, Bulacan who are enrolled in the Acamedic Year
2019-2020. There are one-hundred (103) students who are participated to answer the
survey questionnaire by means of Google Forms.

Non-randomized or non-probability sampling is used to choose the respondent

for this study. In non-probability sampling method, individuals are selected based on non-
random criteria, and not every individual in the population has no chance of being
included (McCombes, 2019). Under the non-probability sampling technique, the
researchers used the convenience sampling method in choosing the respondents.
Convenience sampling is a type of nonprobability sampling in which people are sampled
simply because they are "convenient" sources of data for researchers (Lavrakas, 2011).
Convenience sampling is utilized since the educational system is change its set-up to
online class or modular from face-to-face interaction. In this method, the respondents are
choose based on their availability.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS
The researchers used the Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale and Perceived Teacher
Behaviors Scale. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale is a 10-item self-report measure of
global self-esteem. It consists of 10 statements related to overall feelings of self-worth or
self-acceptance. The items are answered on a four-point scale ranging from strongly
agree to strongly disagree. The primary use of Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale was
originally developed by Morris Rosenberg to assess self-esteem among adolescents.

On the other hand, the Perceived Teacher Behaviors Scale was developed by Dr.
Kokzalan and Dr. Zelyurt to identify the perception of the students in relation to their
teachers’ behaviour throughout their education. Based on the EFA (Exploratory Factor
Analysis) and CFA (Confirmatory Factor Analysis), it was concluded that the scale of
perceived teacher behaviour is an instrument that produces valid and reliable
measurements and it could be used to measure the student's perception of teacher
behaviour.

The Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale and Perceived Teacher Behaviors Scale were
combined and modified by Ms. Joan E. Mina, teacher of the researchers in their subject
Inquiries, Investigation, and Immersion.

The statements of the survey questionnaire will analyze through the use of Likert
Scale ranging from 4- strongly agree , 3-disagree, 1-strongly disagree.

Likert’s Scale Table

MEAN VERBAL DESCRIPTION (VD)
3.26 – 4.0 Strongly Agree
2.51 – 3.25 Agree
1.76 – 2.50 Disagree
1.00 – 1.75 Strongly Disagree
DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURE
The researchers modified the Rosenberg’s Self Esteem and Teacher and
Perceive Teacher Behaviors Scale to gather a data for the study. Then, by means of
Facebook and Messenger they communicate to their respondents and also asked
permission if they could answer the survey. Google Forms is utilized to distribute the
survey instrument to the participants of the study. Afterwards, the data is tabulated by
means of Microsoft Excel.

DATA ANALYSIS
To analyze the data gathered from the respondents, the researchers used the
Microsoft Excel to tabulate the mean and standard deviation (SD) for the data statistics.
Afterwards, the researchers will interpret the figures based on the verbal description of
the Likert Scale.
