DC Motor
The flux per pole is 25mWb when motor is drawing 60 A from the supply. Armature
resistance is 0.15 Ω while the series field winding resistance is 0.2 Ω. Calculate the
speed under this condition.
2. A 6 pole 230V lap wound dc motor has an armature resistance of 0.4 Ω. The armature
is wound by 600 conductors and runs at a speed of 700rpm. Determine the useful
flux per pole if the armature current is 25 Ω.
3. The armature current of a 4-pole wave connected dc motor is 40 A. The resistance
of the armature circuit is 0.23 Ω and the motor is connected across the 415 V. The
number of conductors of the armature circuit is 360 and the flux per pole is 0.05 Wb.
Determine the speed of the motor.
4. A 440 V shunt motor has armature resistance of 0.8 Ω and field resistance of 200 Ω.
Determine the back emf when giving an output of 7.46 KW at 85% efficiency.
5. A dc motor takes an armature current of 110 A at 480 V. the armature circuit
resistance is 0.2 ohms. The machine has 6 poles and the armature is lap connected
with 864 conductors. The flux per pole is 0.05Wb. Find the Torque developed by the
armature.
6. A 240 V dc motor is connected long shunt. The armature resistance is 0.04 Ω, series
field resistance is 0.02 Ω and the shunt field is 240 Ω. Neglecting brush loss,
determine the line current if back emf is 237.9 V.
