Ways of Creating an Effective Cyber Security

Training Program for Employees

Do you know what it means to have cyber security awareness? Cyber security involves
much more than just firewalls, antivirus, and antimalware. It goes deeper than the
software; the human element is also playing a vital role. Therefore, you should ensure
that your employees have the proper cyber security training and awareness. This will
ensure that your company and security run smoothly. A mistake from one employee
can cost the company millions of losses. Here are pointers to help you create an
effective cyber security training program.

Figure out what the Employees Already know

Time is essential in any business; therefore, do not waste it by going through
everything in training. First, inquire what the employees already know about cyber
security, then start from there. Work with the cyber security training developers to
figure out what each person knows. After that, divide the meeting and send each
employee to the training they fit, rather than sending everyone to the same training.

Use Personal Examples

There are high chances that there are two or more employees in any company who
have been victims of cyber security. The attacks could be in the form of cyber attacks
or identity theft. When you are conducting the training, engage willing employees to
share their experiences. Use their experiences to show the other employees what to do
on similar occasions putting your company's safety in mind.

Make the Training Often and Early

You should hold cyber security training for the employees immediately they join your
company. This is the most crucial time as the employee will know what to do as they
get into the business. Conducting the training early can also help you identify your
new employee's level of awareness to know how much effort and investment you need
to put into the training.

Address the Employee’s Common Cyber Security Misconceptions

Sometimes separating the real cyber threats from a fake ones is tricky. Sometimes,
knowing what is possible in the field of cyber security and what is not is difficult. With
time this can also become a challenge in your company. Most of the time, you will find
that the employees are more curious and careful with the problems that do not even
exist. In turn, they lower their guard when it comes to real issues. Ensure you
understand your employees' misconceptions and address them before they become the
real threat to your company's growth.

Make a realTime Threat

To ensure that the cyber security training in your company is most effective, you can
decide and plan with the cyber security training developers to create a realtime
threat. Create a cyber security threat to each department and watch how they handle
the issues. By doing so, you will be sharpening the skills of your employees to deal with
such problems should they arise. You should also evaluate their response in such
scenarios; you will know which areas to adjust to during the training.

Phishing attacks and email spoofing threats are increasing by each day. However,
most companies still do not offer their employees the proper cyber security awareness
to curb these threats. When your employees can’t figure out an attack, they might click
the wrong buttons, which could cost your company millions of dollars. Therefore, take
the initiative and train them. Better safe than sorry.
