GROUP ASSIGNMENT 1: LEADERSHIP STYLES

Value: 20%
Submitting via email (soft-copy) and submit to lecturer (hard- copy)
Presentation: 10 minutes

The purpose of the task


- Analyzing the leadership styles of leaders in a company
- Assessing the strength and weakness of the leadership styles
- Recommendations/Intervention design to improve
Task description
Students will form groups around 5 to 6 people during class. Each group should identify a topic
related to an organization and then your group has analysis and access. The selected topic should be
related to the topic studied such as:
1. Traits leadership approach
2. Leadership Skills approach
3. Leadership Behaviors approach
4. Situational Leadership approach
5. Transformational Leadership
6. Charisma Leadership
A presentation covering the following points should be prepared:
1. Provide a brief introduction to the organization
2. Describe the selected topic
3. Analyzing the leadership styles of leaders in a company
4. Design an intervention (a change program or set of activities and procedures utilizing some
aspects of your analysis. The intervention should be intended to solve or improve the situation
Group assignment: Assessment criteria
Group assignment will be given to all members. It will be based on:
- The presence of an appropriate introduction to the organization
- The identification and description of a suitable topic for analysis
- Depth of analysis of the topic
- Use of analysis in intervention design
- Time management in presentation
- Giving more credits if your groups select Vietnamese organization to analyze
Student participation and peer evaluation grade will be based on redistribution of the marks made
by the total group grade.

* Where a group member’s contribution has been assigned as less than 100%, the Group-work
Management Diary will be consulted. If it is clear that the individual has not contributed to clear
and well defined standards of group performance / attendance then their mark will be adjusted
in-line with the percentage from the Peer Review Sheet.

Alternatively, if each group member has contributed equally, then the relevant box can be ticked
and all group members will receive the full mark for the assignment. All group members must
sign the form. The assignment will be counted as late until this form is submitted.
