persuaded his staff members to

utilize illegally copied programs

inside the organization.


Computer security risk is any event or action that could cause a loss of or damage to

computer hardware, software, data, information, or processing capability. There are few types

computer security risk in which is malicious code (trojan horse, worm, computer virus),

hardware theft, software theft, information theft, system failure and also unauthorized access

and use. Next, computer security measure is the protections that can reduce the risk of a

problem occurring due to the computer security risk. There are few types of computer

security measures that should be consider which are data backup, cryptography, anti-virus,

anti-spyware, firewall, physical access control, and also human aspect in awareness.

Based on my scenario that I had read, the type of computer security risk is software theft.

The CEO of Design Graphic Sdn Bhd has been using an illegal copied software inside of

his/her organisation. They had been using an uncertified program which is an unauthorised

and duplication of a copyrighted software causes them to be sued. Thus, there are some

disadvantages of using an unlicensed software. Firstly, it is illegal. It is also a federal crime to

make unauthorised copies of software. There will be a fined up to $250000 and sentenced to

jail for 5 years because of this kind of illegal activities help by this company. In other hand

using a pirate software is risky as it is most likely to be effect with serious computer viruses

which will directly damage the user’s computer. Last but not least, piracy software is

unproductive. Significantly, many piracy software does not come with any user manual or

any technical support and this software will most likely become outdated rapidly causes to

not have any future upgrades


Subsequently, there are few types of ways to overcome the security risk and

measures. Firstly, use software anti-piracy tool for computer device. The name of this

software is Anti-Piracy Software Protection system and the pattern of this software is

US-8510861-B2. This is a method and a system to protect the software from any

unauthorised use. This software can be stored in a pen drive, CD-ROM, and DVD. This

protection program is integrated with software product and has encrypted codes which are not

easily to be hacked. A special code is required to activate the software together with

password and username for verification purpose. This software is not possible to be pirate

illegally as the security module is necessary to run this application. Thus, this software will

prevent from phishing activities, protect against online treats and become and antivirus

program.

Next, other ways to overcome the security risk and measure is by human aspect awareness.

For an example, inside an organisation the workers should be aware that they are currently

working with many people in the company and must be careful with who are they

communicating with. This is because threat could come from within the organisation and not

jut from the outside. Organisation must take initiative by providing the employee with

adequate training and teach the importance of security control so that they will be ready to

face any type of computer security risk that might occur anytime. Directly, this could prevent

breaches and attacks from hacker and cracker causes the technological defence to be more

robust.
As a conclusion, software piracy is the unauthorised and an illegal duplication of copyrighted

software. In these days, software piracy had been a great problem to many people especially

software developers and the users who consume the final product. In the main time, the

government and the manufacture software company has had loss of millions due to the

activities of software theft. Thus, the government must work together with the software

company to overcome this problem to ensure that software piracy is totally wiped out

completely.
