Modern communication is very different from traditional face-to-face communication. Face-to-face communication allows for deeper knowledge sharing but is limited by travel time and costs. Digital communication provides increased accessibility but lacks nonverbal cues and context. Both forms of communication have limitations, such as restricted relationship building and shorter interactions, but digital communication offers greater productivity through reduced travel requirements.

Putting things in the right perspective?

1. Why do people communicate?

People communicate for many different reasons. Socially, people
communicate for pleasure, to interact with others, to form and sustain friendships, to
inquire about something, to make a request for information, to provide options
advising/guidance and to ask questions or to offer choices. People also communicate
to communicate a want, need, or preference, to communicate one's emotions, to share
thoughts and experiences, to debate and discuss. Moreover, most of communicate
because, compassion/empathy can be shown and you can encourage, motivate, or
persuade when you communicate. And, in order to believe in something, one must
understand how to communicate effectively in today's world.

2. What might happen to the world if communication does not exist?

I believe that without communication, there would be no human race. Because
the relationships we've discovered in each of us are a result of the communication we
share, whether verbally or nonverbally. And if there were no relationships to begin
with, the idea of multiplying in this world would never have arisen. Communication
has always been at the heart of our lives, and it is also related to the adage "No man is
an island." We need each other, even if we don't admit it. Because it could have
started with nods and gestures in ancient times. It could also be the form of words,
but with different languages in different parts of the world. Until the end of time, we
connected and networked our thoughts, knowledge, morality, and many other things.
Until such time as we continue to share our rules and understand what is right and
wrong in order to define justice. Our society today is formed by communication, and
it has grown even more as a result of globalization. It was built with the sender and
receiver in mind, but it is more than that because it brings together groups of people
who share a common insight or opinion. They may be different, but they
communicate to share what they think differently, and we respect that. It is the source
of all life and the beginning of all connections, and without it, there would be no life
at all.

3. Why do miscommunication and misunderstandings happen?

The most common cause of miscommunication and misunderstanding is a
difference in points of view. In other words, the two parties may have different
interpretations of what the topic of the conversation is. This is because of mental
models just like cultures. There are a few that are especially prone to causing
misunderstandings. And, as long as we have our own opinions, miscommunication
and misunderstanding will always be a part of human interaction.

4. Why is communication important to you?

As a student, communication is an essential for a student's future career
success.. Communication is an important part of us students because it teaches us
how to focus on how we use symbolic resources to build and maintain relationships,
as well as how to participate as a citizen in the public sphere, whether it's attending a
city council meeting and speaking up about a local initiative or petition.

5. Why is communication important to society?

Communication is important to the society because communication teaches
individuals all around the world and is critical to society's overall cognitive growth.
Regardless of how individuals communicate with one another, the aim is always the
same: to express oneself and to gather information. Consider a world where there is
no communication. For children, this would imply that they would be unable to
communicate their emotions. Adults would see a sudden absence of communication
as a lack of comprehension of what is going on around them. You wouldn't be able to
operate in a collaborative setting or share ideas with others around you if you didn't
communicate.

6. Why do you think communication skills are considered to be essential in being good
citizens?
Communication skills, in my opinion, are critical to being excellent HUMAN
BEINGS. Humans are a sociable creature by nature. Words, tone of voice, body
language, and a variety of other interactions are all used to communicate. In addition,
we now live in a world where the human population continues to increase and grow.
When there are more people and less space, there is greater interaction and
conversation.
I feel it is critical that we learn to communicate in ways that allow us to
respond compassionately and generously to one another while also expressing
ourselves effectively and fully comprehending the perspectives of others. It requires
courage and desire to communicate effectively with compassion, kindness, and
empathy.

Directions: Do as directed.

Set A
After –Reading Question:

1. What problems can happen when there are communication breakdown?

Communication breakdown can cause frustration, loss of
productivity,strained relationships and deteriorated situations.

2. What does Berlin mean when he says “( In teaching writing), we are teaching a way of
experiencing the world, a way of ordering and making sense of it?
When Berlin said, “( In teaching writing), we are teaching a way of
experiencing the world, a way of ordering and making sense of it” , this means that
instructors provide students with techniques to discover knowledge and to create (and
express) their understanding of that knowledge in a classroom composition.

3. Is this only true for writing? Explain.

No, it is not only true for writing. Because it can also be associated to
reading. For example, A teacher gives a work of fiction to a class to read. Yes,
practice is beneficial and aids in the development of a broad vocabulary. However,
the tale may present circumstances and sentiments that the kids have never
contemplated, much less experienced in their brief lives. However, they may come
into a similar person or scenario in the future. They will be able to comprehend the
situation.
With a little physics and chemistry knowledge, "magic" may be transformed
into predictable results of operations.

Set C
Self Reflection

Why should you as an individual respect and value people who are different from you?

As an individual, I should respect and value people who are different from me. Respect means
that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they’re different from you or you don’t agree
with them. We all know that we are all different. And being respected by important people in our lives
growing up teaches us how to be respectful toward others.
Moreover, respect is a basic moral value or need which makes us aware that we are human
beings not wild animals. As a result, we must respect others and be respected by others in order to
demonstrate our humanitarian identity among all other animals on this planet. Respect must be
fostered in every human being from birth, regardless of whether he belongs to a lower socioeconomic
level or an aristocratic segment of society. Respecting your parents, teachers, and elders is the first
step in instilling the meaning and value of respect in our lives.
Respecting people is a quiet method of expressing our affection for them. It is an unconscious
kind of communication that fosters stable and strong relationships between individuals who respect
one another. When someone displays respect for another, it implies that the other person values him.
His opinions and recommendations are valuable to him.
