NOTES:
_____ Unpack autoSCAN®-4, computer, report printer, line conditioner and place in desired operating locations. Plug
in the power cords.
_____ Connect the autoSCAN®-4 to serial port 1 on the back of the computer.
_____ Inspect the autoSCAN®-4 and ensure that the plastic photodiode shield, the glass diffuser plate, and retaining
clips are in place. With the drawer and cover closed, turn the instrument on. The drawer should come out and the
colorwheel should rotate (as evidenced by the changing colors in the front display). Allow the instrument to
warm up for one hour before calibration and panel reading.
_____ Select Configuration\ autoSCAN®-4\ Port assignment. Select serial port 1 as the autoScan-4 assigned port. Select
OK.
_____ Select Configuration\ autoSCAN®-4\ Water Blank File. Verify the instrument is on then select OK.
_____ Insert the water blank disk included with the instrument and select OK. Confirm that the file should be restored by
selecting yes.
_____ From the Data\ Calibration tab calibrate the instrument. From the alignment tab verify the power supply
alignment. From the test tab verify all tests pass.
_____ Place a water blank panel (equilibrated for one hour) onto the autoSCAN®-4 drawer.
_____ From the Data\ Repeatibility tab select 5 as the number of reads. Select Read Panel. Verify that there are no
asterisked values on the screen after the test has been completed. Be sure to view all filters.
_____ Select Patient Order Entry from LabPro Command Center select Read\ autoScan-4 Calibrate\ QC Diagnostics.
Run the QC Diagnostics. Verify that everything passes.
_____ Perform Instrument Calibration. Check to make certain the drawer is empty and press the READ button on the
front panel of the instrument. Print the Calibration Report. Verify that it is in control. The autoSCAN®-4 is now
ready to read panels.
