Prayer
Father God, we honor and glorify your name, (bowed and pray)
today, as we start our lesson, we are asking for
guidance as we come to learn another lesson.

over our family who are working so hard to send

B. Motivation

Take note that when we are getting the

probability of a certain event, we usually predict
the chance of that event to happen and we can
measure the levels of an event using the
probability line.
Now, let’s find out what is all about the

probability line.
The probability line shows the level of probability

depending on the probability or possibility of an
event to happen.
Impossible event – is an event that cannot

happen. The possibility of an event to happen is
unattainable. Kindly give an example of
impossible things that you usually think? “Philippines experience winter”
Exactly, how we wish to experience playing on
snow here in the Philippines but we only two
season summer and wet since we belong to
tropical countries.
Remember, if there is zero probability, the event

is not going to happen.
Unlikely event – it is near zero meaning there is a

low chance for the event to happen. Another
example of unlikely event? Seeing crocodile in the city
It is really an unlikely event because the chance
to see a crocodile in the city is low since crocodile
usually lives in places with wide lakes and creep
forest.
Remember, if the event is near zero probability,

then the event is unlikely to happen.
Even chance – it is a chance that has only two

outcomes. The chance of the events is the same.
It is either the event will happen or the other way
around. Who can give an example of even
chance? Ma’am, winning or losing during election.
Absolutely, the probability of event to happen is
the same since a politician can either win the
position or lose the position.
Remember, in the probability line, even chance is

found in the center, it is equally between 0 and 1
probabilities, meaning the event may either
occur or not.
Likely event – it is an event that is expected to

occur or take place. It is between equally likely
event and 1 probability, meaning, there is a high
chance that the event will happen.
Who can also give me an example of this? Winning in raffle draws with many entries

Certain event – it is an event that is sure to
happen. What about an example of certain
event? Passing the exam, ma’am!
Correct! No matter what your score is as long as

E. Application
Now, I will group you into 5. Each group is task to

demonstrate the levels of probability through a (accomplish their task)
simple experiment. Then, at least give a simple
situation that explains the level of probability.

spinning wheel with many colors)
Group 2 – certain event (selecting randomly with
the same kinds of pilot pens)
Group 3 – impossible event (Getting the
probability of 7 in rolling a die)
Group 4 – likely event (randomly selecting black
ping pong balls in a jar filled with 10 black ping
pong ball and 7 white ping pong ball)
Group 5 – equally likely events (tossing a coin)
