Course Topic: LEARNING TO BE A BETTER PERSON


Educational Objectives of the chapter:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

1. Define what, why, and how to be a better person and a learner.


2. List things to do to improve life and well-being.
3. Reflect on what it means for them to be a better person.

Discussion:
What makes a better person/ learner
 Knowing yourself is not enough. Since “who you are” is partly made up of your choices,
you must also have the ability to choose especially to be better “you”.
 Not just a better learners in academic but also on anything you are interested and also it can
help you to be successful in life.
WHAT?

Anyone can do a little more, learn a little more and grow a little more every day. With a
consistent effort, those “little bits” add up to major accomplishments.
Making a Living Vs. Making a Life
 Developing a sound mind
 Building exemplary character
 Becoming more emotionally mature
 Becoming socially balanced
 Becoming morally disciplined
 Becoming responsible
 Becoming service – minded
 Evolving to an all-around personality

Moderation is the mantra

Eat variety
Avoid sugar, salt, oil
Listen to your Body
Space smaller portion.
5. Live Simple
Life is like choosing your coffee. Choose
something you want, something you enjoy
either sweet or bitter. Cause at the end it is you
who will taste it. Make it simple don’t force
yourself to drink something you don’t like

6. LEARN STEADY
Be a lifelong student
Enjoy learning

7. Breathe Deep
8. Aid Generous
You do not have to be rich to be Generous.
I Give not because I have many but because I know how
it feels to have nothing
Give a part of yourself to those around you. Be
generous with your blessings. A kind gesture can reach a
wound that only compassion can heal. – Steve Maraboli
Generosity the most natural outward expression of an
inner attitude of compassion.
It is always nice to be generous, be careful though, some
people mistakes generosity to dependency.

Tips to improve your life

1. PERSONALITY
Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about
Dream more while you are awake
Life is too short to waste time hating. Don’t hate others
Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.
No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
2. COMMUNITY
Spend quality time with family
Give something good to others everyday
Spend time with people over 60 and under 6
Try to make at least one person smile each day
Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friend will.
3. LIFE
However good or bad the situation is, it will change
No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up
Get rid anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
Improve physical well-being: eat healthy foods, lose weight, exercise more, eat better, quit
smoking/alcohol, and get rid of bad habits.
Improve mental well-being: think positive, laugh more, enjoy life
Improve finances: get out of debt, save money, make small investments
Improve education: improve grades, get a better education, learn something new (such as
foreign language, art, music) read more, and improve skills.
Improve self: become more organized, reduced stress, manage time, be more independent,
watch less television, avoid being lazy.
Take a trip
Get along better with people: improve social skills
Make new friends
