Lesson Reflection 1
Lesson Reflection 1
Select (S):
Identify a lesson and what standards are you addressing
Describe (D):
What were you trying to achieve in your lesson?
In order to ensure that my students learn and read words that start with s sound, counting and
five senses. I create a full lesson about it.
During the Introduction, I started with morning routine then I showed students good morning
song and I asked students question for prior knowledge it’s about the letters and who can give
me words start with S and T letters. After that I start review the numbers and I choose 3
students to count for me. I showed students a video about the five senses and some questions.
After that, they were very interactive with me and the Arabic teacher after I finished, she said,
that my carpet time was very good because the students was very enjoyed and answer the
questions. Last activity, I choose some students to draw for me the face parts and students they
know because we review it at the video.
Like what the Montessori approach operates on the belief that children learn best when they
possess background knowledge about a subject.
During the active engagement, I divided the students into groups according to levels. In Math
center, students enjoyed the activity very much because they were preparing cotton balls and
carrying them with tongs. The activity was excellent, and the students interacted well with it. I
think it is a very good activity to review and teach numbers. In science center, the students
enjoyed a lot, and they memorized the parts of the face and the body well, because when they
put the straw, they say it is the hand and the leg, the button are eyes, the threads are hair and
mouth, the play dough is a body and a face. I linked playing with education, and this is a very
effective way of teaching and students memorize the information easily. In the writing center,
the activity helped the students to write the S letter in the correct way and in the right direction
because many students are confused in the direction of the letter.
During the conclusion, I asked students some questions about the five senses.
- Froebel believe the teacher should serve as a guide and I apply this method in my lesson
first I do, we do, you do. I just guide the students to learn and to help them to understand
the concept. (2013)
During the introduction, students were interacting with me and most of the time when I called
their name they would respond and answer my questions. During the active engagement,
students were excited to do the activity and most of them they try every activity. During the
conclusion, students they answer the question together and collaborate.
Analyze (A):
How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?
I used prior knowledge when I review the numbers and choose some students to count. In
addition, I used in the introduction when I let them to give me words start with the S and T letter
How well did you engage the students?
I engage students when I asked them to answer the questions and interact with another’s. Also,
when I let them work together in science center.
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did?
in my opinion, the students were able to understand the learning outcome because I used
pictures and videos. Pictures and videos help students to understand the concept and help them
understand the new words. In addition, Activities that link with play are very effective and help
students remember the information.
Appraise (A):
Did your lesson meet your teaching goals?
By the end of the lesson, 80% of the students will be able count the numbers and know the five
senses.
Transform (T):
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
I will use differentiation in the conclusion and must find a way to keep the students and class organizer
and at the same time be individually or small group.
What are the implications for your professional practice?
This will help me know the students' understanding and whether the activities were effective,
and each student was able to understand the lesson.
