1. Describe the categories of 21st Century skills.
Ans.
21st Century skills was categorized into 3; Learning Skills, Literacy Skills, and Life
Skills.
Learning skills teaches students about mental processes such as Critical
thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication also known as 4 C’s. These
mental processes are required skills that students must have in order for them to adapt
and improve in a modern work environment. Meanwhile, Literacy Skills focuses on how
students can determine facts, sources, and the technology behind them. This skill
sought to improve students focus on determining or spotting the trustworthy sources
and factual information to separate it from the misleading information that spread across
social media or internet platforms. Information Literacy, Media Literacy, and Technology
Literacy belongs in this category. On the other hand, Life Skills looks at the intangible
elements of a student’s daily life which means it focuses on both personal and
professional qualities that a student must possess. This category encompasses five 21 st
century life skills which are: Flexibility, Leadership, Initiative, productivity, and Social
and Cross-Cultural Skills.
5. What activities can help learners enhance their 21st Century skills?
Ans.
Some activities that can help learners to enhance their 21stCentury skills are:
1. Presenting a report using PowerPoint.
2. Creating a film by using Video Editor applications or Software.
3. Making flyers using MS Word or Publisher
4. Having a group discussion using Zoom, Messenger, Google Meet and Skype.
5. Sending modules and assignments using E-mail.

Why do you think professional development on teaching 21st Century skills is
needed by teachers in the field?
Ans.
Professional development on teaching 21 st Century skills is needed by teachers
in the field for the reason that, it will help them to gain knowledge, develop skills and
strategies, and improve instructions in order for them to teach 21 st century skills to their
students. Through the help of professional development, they will be able to address
their students’ needs and help them to be prepared in entering the workforce or higher
education.
