: 3) Understanding elasticity.
Xxxxxx
xxxxxxx
• Student will be able to recognize the forces that are acting when walking, running
and on stationary.
• Students will be able to understand the development in the field of Physics and
technology.
• Educate students to be a thankful person on what God had given to us in this life.
1
2.0 STUDENT’S PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
i) Student already have knowledge about work, energy, power and efficiency
in the Form 1 and the Form 2 and Form 3 science syllabus.
2
i) Student have learned about the the importance of maximizing the
efficiency of devices in Form 1 Science syllabus
Based on daily life, teacher asks students which one has more power,
superman or power rangers.
3
3.2 Lesson Plan 2 : Understanding efficiency and appreciating the importance of
maximizing the efficiency of devices
i. What are the differences between florescent lamp and light bulb?
Objects:

Sponge Ruler Plasticine
Teacher’s questions:
i. Class, I am sure every one of you knows these objects. Can you classify
these objects into their common characteristics?
iii. What are your reasons in classifying these objects into elastic and non-
elastic?

Teacher shows a visual cartoon of on Science related to everyday life. The
visual cartoon is about children playing the spring seesaw. In the visual, there
are four characters that have different opinions about elastic potential energy.
Teacher will ask students, “Which one of the characters do you agree with the
most?” In addition, teacher also asks whether the students have other ideas
about potential elastic energy and the new ideas will fill in the blank dialogue
box. Teacher will not judge the students’ choice either correct or wrong.
Teacher may know students idea and their prior knowledge. Hence, teacher
will prepare for suitable actions to continue in the next session.
Lesson 1:
Lesson 2:
Lesson 3:
ii) There are students will have problems in solving problems involving
elasticity.
7
Lesson 4:
ii) The students might confuse in applying the equation of elastic potential
energy:
1) At the end of this lesson, students can define power and state the relationship
between power, work and time ( on a piece of paper by using their
own words correctly.
2) After this activity, students should be able to construct the formula P=W/t and
calculate the value of power from exercise given accurately.
3) At the end of this lesson, students can carry out an activity to find the
relationship between power and work given books, stopwatch, marker pen and
white board.
8
1) At the end of this lesson, students can explain the efficiency using their own
sentences correctly.
2) After the ends of this activity, students should be able to recognize and list
down the importance of maximizing efficiency of devices in conserving
resources.
3) After the ends of this activity, students should be able to solve the 3 numerical
questions involving the equation
4) At the end of this lesson, students can classify of energy transfer diagram when
using the florescent lamp and light bulb in daily life.
1) At the end of this lesson, student should be able to classify objects given into
elastic and non-elastic into a table.
2) At the end of this lesson, students can define Hooke’s Law and state the
equation of Hooke’s Law on a piece of paper by using their own words
correctly.
3) At the end of this activity, students should be able to conduct the experiment
involving the factors that affect the elasticity correctly.
4) At the end of this activity, students will recognize the application of elasticity
in their school exactly.
9
1) In the end of this session, students may define elastic potential energy and
2) At the end of this activity, students should be able to state that elastic potential
4) In the end of this session, students may design and carry out an experiment in
groups to find the relationship between force and extension of spring given
springs, retort stand, masses and rulers.

Lesson 1 i. Walking upstairs and downstairs.
ii. Pushing and pulling a box in 1 meter distance.
iii. Electric motor to lift heavy load
Lesson 2 i. Diesel engines are already more efficient than gasoline engines (45
percent versus 30 percent).
ii. Efficiency of an iron is higher when iron many clothes
continuously compared to iron clothes but often to switch off the
plug before start irons the next clothes.
iii. The electric vehicles are more efficient because less energy is
wasted as heat. However, electric vehicles are not common
because of the high cost of technology required to build them.
Lesson 3 i. Weighing machines and meters use springs to return the pointer to
its original position.
ii. Baby cradles use springs to rock babies to sleep for a long-time
sleep. The elastic bow is an example of application of elasticity in
sports.
