OTHERS COMMENTS AND OBSERVATIONS

With the absolute significance of having an interactive, fun, and cooperative learning
in the classroom, the teacher and students should demonstrate efficacious communication
skills such as verbal and nonverbal. Otherwise, the particular takeaway in this observation as
aspiring educator is be confident and compassion in communicating. For this reason, I can
convey not only clear messages and information but morally upright character. And so, my
students can integrate these in their own footsteps and become good orators of righteousness,
knowledge and wisdom.

Read carefully answer the following questions based on what you have observed in the
class.

1. How important are the verbal and non-verbal forms of communication to the
teachers?

In conformity with Miss Liezel experiences in teaching, she indicated that it is crucial
to have a constructive communication in both aspects. For example while explaining a
topic, she needs to be clear and precise. You cannot jumble up the topic that could
confuse your students as well as yourself making it difficult for the student to grasp what
you are saying. Also, with her presentation skills she can turn boring subject into an
interesting one by utilizing a powerful tone and lively voice.

Otherwise, an efficient teacher must be kin in non-verbal expressions like in body

language and writing. It is important to ace in speaking but it is equally important in
writing and having good body language. A good written communication skills is the one
where the words express the right tone and put the idea across effectively especially when
teacher needs to create lesson plans and writing letters. While, the gestures, postures, eye
contact, and hand movement show authority to the students in order to respect you in the
class.

2. How do verbal and non-verbal forms of communication affect the students

learning?

In the classroom, it is important that students have developed communication skills

due to it is a foundation to learn holistically. In its essence, the significant effect of verbal
and nonverbal form of communication awaken students full potential of being a literate
learners because they know how to read, write, speak, and listen. These are fundamental
aspects of learning. So, a good communication skills of students either way can actively
encourage constructive thinking.

3. What forms of communication do the teachers and the students need to improve
on?

“Keep communicating effectively in all the forms till you master the art.”

On the basis of Miss Liezel insights, she affirms that teacher and student should keep
centralizing their communication skills effectively in all forms until they master it. These
could achieve through not fearing away or run away from conversation. Be it a school
activity or just a group of friends; put your ideas across with no fear in writing, reading,
and speaking. Because the more you step back, the more issues you will have in future to
express yourself. Participate in group discussion, interact more with students and be a part
of a community where you can discuss every topic and improve your intellectual level.

Complete the following.

1. I realized that communication skills is an integral literacy to be master not just by the
students but of course the teacher. In a way, teacher must be an influential orator that
demonstrate confidence, authority, compassion, integrity, kindness, wisdom, and
respect on how she communicates with the learners in verbal or nonverbal
communication. For this reason, your students will be spirited where they be able to
apply individually and be an efficacious conversationalist.

2. I believed that communication in all forms and in phases of life define who you are.
It is a continuous process of learning and mastering a skill. You should learn from
your previous mistakes, keep a note on what you have done wrong and how you can
correct it. Do not take communication of any form lightly as it will hamper your
future. It is important to learn the communication skill so that you can express
effectively and efficiently.

3. I feel that a good teacher will always show compassion and care towards their
students with words or body language. They work with the students to ensure they
excel in whatever they do and continuously encourage them to do better. They get to
know the students personally by making sure that they address them by their names.
They understand their fear and confusion and are there to counsel them if needed.

4. When I become a teacher, I will promote competencies and literacy in a meaningful,

productive, and equitable way through speech, actions, and behaviors. Also, good
bonding between me and my students is very important for creating a friendly
environment. I will add various activities in classrooms so that every student takes an
interest in those activities. I need to create such bonding where students are not
hesitate to ask or answering any question. Most especially as a teacher, I will
understand my students’ situation.

Read carefully and answer the following questions based on what you have observed in
class.
1. What features of the learning environment have significantly contributed to the
students learning?

According to Miss Liezel, in the classroom a teacher should be able to provide a

positive ambiance. This plays a substantial role to the students learning because students
can greatly enhance their social abilities, sense of belongingness, and self-esteem, not just
in the classroom but in life as well.

2. In your opinion, how can the schools learning environment be improved?

The way I see it, school is the place where children spend the majority of their time
with peers. So in order to transformed the learning environment we need to exercise
positive behaviors in the classroom, identify and acknowledging the strengths of all
children, understanding social weaknesses, and create a learning environment in which
diversity is accepted and celebrated.

3. How does Maslow’s theory explain the importance of security and safety in
ensuring that learning will take place?

As attested in the Maslow’s theory, the significance of ensuring security and safety
demystified in every important matters of needs that teachers must cater. Otherwise,
based from the context, the relevance of directing a secured and safe learning space for
the learners generated an active learning where it increases the focus, cooperation, and
establish a relationship in the learning process.

Complete the following:

1. I realized that as a teacher I have to stimulate a learning environment where
disparities of students are understand, identify, acknowledge, belong, accepted, and
celebrated. Whatever the students’ demographics, a positive space is important to
foster in the classroom so they can have an opportunity to stamp a fair and holistic
learning environment despite of diversities.

2. I believed that a clean and organize learning environment cultivate learning outcome
that is engaging, fun, interesting, collaborative, and inspiring. Likewise, an adequate
policies in the classroom can be able to provide opportunity to every learner in
allowing them to express their thoughts and ideas fairly.

3. I feel that it is important that the structure, actions, behaviors, culture, characters, and
policies should be adequately incorporated in the learning environment. In the same
way, as a future educator I feel I need to be versatile because I am sure it is going to
be challenging.

4. When I become a teacher, I will maintain a balance relationship with my students

because it is a foundation of active and engaging learning environment in the
classroom. I will be responsible and compassion to cater the needs and diversities of
the students.

1. What can you say about the learning environment?

In my perspective, I think learning environment is vital to achieve a meaningful

learning experience because this is a space where students and teacher can interact from
one another to share knowledge, ideas, and opinions. In its essence, learning environment
promotes volumes of attitude, knowledge, and wisdom. This is where we start to learn
everything and be able to apply in the long run.

2. How can the teacher further promote a fair learning environment?

Certainly, it starts with identifying the individual differences. In a way, as a teacher
you familiarize and deal with them by showing great compassion. From then, you can
administer a supportive environment that is fair through pairing a socially inept child
with a socially adept one, involving children in cooperative instead of a competitive
learning experiences, identifying and acknowledging the strengths of all children,
understanding social weaknesses, and creating an environment in which diversity is
recognized.

P R O C E S S I N G

1. What could have contributed to the presence or absence of a fair learning

environment?

At the fundamental role of having a fair learning environment, this could create an
impact in children’s development and meaningful way of learning with its absence nor
presence. Due to, it results to positive and negative effects. To demonstrate, if a teacher
cultivates a fair learning environment children are attentive, interested, and inspired to
learn. On the other, if it’s not present children are surely aloof and detached to learn.

2. How does a fair learning environment affect the way children learn?

A fair learning environment promotes a sense of belongingness, enhance children’s

social abilities, and self-esteem. When the teacher's management plan is fair, consistent
and organized, the students understand what to expect and can make wise choices and
take responsibility for their actions.

Complete the following:

1. I realized that creating a classroom community and culture remain another necessary
aspect when fostering a safe learning environment. Students need to understand what
they have in common with their fellow learners in the classroom. It is the teacher's job
to create this community so all students will get along and celebrate one another's
differences.
2. I believe that the most important aspect in a safe and positive learning environment is
the rapport between a teacher and his or her students. When the students understand
that their teacher cares about them and wants them to do well, students feel
comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and taking risks in order to learn
something new.
3. I feel that the teacher should take interest in each student's strengths and interests, as
well as their struggles and frustrations. He or she needs to act as a positive model for
learning and celebrating achievements. When the students see that their teacher can
learn from his or her mistakes, and laugh even in times when he or she feels frustrated,
the students will feel much more comfortable to do the same.
4. When I become a teacher, I will be a responsible teacher to develop a learning
environment where students feel motivated to learn within the boundaries and
expectations of a safe classroom. By modeling and encouraging a safe environment
and purposeful rules, students feel motivated to do the right thing and help one
another. It is important for teachers to put an emphasis on intrinsic motivation in the
classroom to keep students interested and invested in their own learning goals.

A. In the box, draw the room layout of the class you have observed
B. Interview the cooperating teacher. Ask the following questions.
1. What can you say about the physical structure of your classroom?

In my opinion, I think the classroom structure of Miss Liezel is unconventional

because there are three thick walls in each pathway. Personally, I think it will affect the
way she delivers her lesson activities and also for the students who are sitting near those
area. Otherwise, in terms of cleanliness and organization I like how her classroom’s
promotes minimalism. There are less decorations which grasp the attention and focus of
the learners leading to ineffective learning.

2. What were the things that you considered when you arranged the classroom?

Undoubtedly, it is those three thick walls that eats the corner spaces. This blocks the
view of some students on the board. For this reason, it will greatly affect their focus and
attention. Another reason is, how Miss Liezel delivers her lesson activities especially if
there are groupings. Students have less space to move and cooperate meaningfully.

3. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of physical
set-up?

In this case, the negative side of restructuring the classroom like this will affect the
crucial outcome of the students learning engagement, collaboration, focus, and
cooperation. Due to they cannot have more access to space. Otherwise, the positive side
is the teacher can monitor the student’s behavior intrinsically because the space is
maximize.

P R O C E S S I N G

Based on what you have observed in class and the teacher’s responses on the interview,
answer the following questions.

1. What do you think that the classroom structure is consistent with the teacher’s
objectives? Why not?

Each aspect of classroom and management play a central role in creating a positive
and safe learning space. It is pivotal in the teacher instruction due to this is where
integration of learning happen.

2. How does the classroom setup affect the student’s performance and learning?
Overcrowded classrooms, classrooms with inadequate or wrong-sized desks, or rooms
within hearing of loud sound distractions or classrooms with inadequate light or learning
materials all are difficult for students to learn in. In the same way, an unpleasant
environment affects children to learn in their full potential. Either it distracts them or
it brings them bad thoughts that demotivate them.

3. If you were the teacher, what kind of classroom structure would you adopt to
maximize students learning?

Personally, I would promote a classroom structure that has a minimalistic ambiance.

For a reason that it stimulates positive results to my learners as their attention and focus
will not be distorted or get shabby. Because unorganized and crowded classroom will
affect their engagement to the teacher. So I would like my classroom to be simple,
soothing, and clean. I want it to have a vibe of nature and sky. As these elements relieves
one’s thinking and emotions.

R E F L E C T I O N

Complete the following:

1. I realized that a classroom affects learning in many ways. All desk in a circle. The
students can all see one another. It gives them freedom to discuss things in a non-
combative way. It seems more casual giving them an ease to speak to each other.

2. I believe that environment creates the possibility of learning. A classroom can be too
comfy and informal, or sterile and forbidding. It can enhance discussion, have books
and resources at hand, or not. It can have windows to let light and air in, or be a dark
cave dimly lit by cheap fluorescent lights, flickering in despair. It can have plants,
living in the room. The teacher can be barricaded behind a desk, and sit all day
barking orders. A lab or workshop that is tidy and safe will encourage freedom and
exploration.

3. I felt that classroom environments are very necessary for students and for teachers.
Everything from the color of the walls to the arrangement of the desks sends
impressions to students and might have an effect on the approach a student learns.
The emotional environment additionally can have an effect on the learning
environment and the way well a student receives instruction.
