4 - Flow, Space Activity Relationships

The document discusses key considerations for facility layout planning: flow, space, and activity relationships. It describes analyzing flow at different levels from workstation to department. Effective flow combines patterns like product, process, and group technology layouts. Departments are classified by production type and volume/variety. The material flow system diagrams the movement of materials through manufacturing. Qualitative and quantitative flow measurements are also covered.
