Case Study on ‘Personality Development’

1. You have been working in the United States for quite some time. One of your colleagues Sandeep is joining
you. The very first day he landed in the country, he came late for the meeting with clients. Not just that, he
comes to the office, dressed informally wearing Bermuda shorts. You decide to discuss the matter with him.
What advice would you offer him, regarding formal dress code and professional attitude?
Ans. I would advise Sandeep that no matter how talented he may be at his work, his body language and professional
attitude plays a very pivotal role in achieving success in his professional life. For his body language, I would
advise him to refrain from wearing informal clothes like bermuda shorts and indeed wear a formal attire which
would mingle with the atmosphere and the content on which he was working on. If he wore informal clothes,
his colleagues and seniors would take him to be arrogant about his work forming an impression that he is not
serious about his work and not trustworthy. Wearing formal clothes would project him as a person who is
committed and sincere about his job. I would further advise him to be punctual when reporting for work
and preferably before time when meeting clients as it would non-verbally convey dedication to the job towards
his end.

2. Study the arrangements made for a formal continental dinner. How are the spoons and forks placed? What are
the uses of different pieces of cutlery on the dinner table? What etiquettes should one follow while dinning
with foreign clients? Make a complete presentation highlighting the above, for your junior colleagues.
Ans. In a formal continental dinner, the arrangements are generally decided by the host. Hence, one should allow the
host to direct the guest to his/her seat. Normally, the guest of honor should sit in the best seat. The should sit to
the left of the chief guest. The forks, spoons, and the knives are kept on the either side of the plate. Water glass
is kept in front of the knife and the bread plate is kept in front of the forks. One should follow the ‘Outside-in
rule’ in use when using the cutlery and utensils. The utensils which are on the outside should be used first then
work your way inside. The fork and spoon kept in front of the main plate is for dessert. The glass kept at the
far right is for wine. While dealing with foreign clients, one should be respectful of their culture. For example
if your client comes from a country where food is normally eaten with chopsticks, make sure they have been
kept beside their plate before the guest asks for them. Read about your client’s country dining etiquette well
before hand and be humble and polite in case you make a mistake.

3. Prepare a 15 minutes introduction of yourself.

Ans. A very good day to one and all present here. It’s my pleasure to introduce myself. I am Akshat, 19 years old,
born and raised in Navi Mumbai. I currently am studying in S.I.E.S Graduate School Of Technology and in
my first year studying Computer Engineering. I have completed my schooling from Apeejay School, Nerul.
I am a creative and ambitious young man and my interests follow sports, programming, and gaming.
I currently am learning languages such as C++ and C which are one of the most important programming
languages to build the base.
My strengths are my attitude and I like to take challenges in a way that make me absorb success and
failures in a balanced manner. However, I would not like to say my weakness but my scope of improvement
is for me to give my best at everything and take all the tasks assigned seriously which I procrastinate a lot.
My short term goal is to achieve good academic grades during my second term and also improve my
gaming skills, and for my long term goals I would like to work very hard and become a game designer and
also become a professional gamer.
My ethic is “I never neglect an opportunity for my improvement” and that is all about me.
I would like to thank my teacher Mrs.Getanjali Mishra to give me the opportunity to introduce myself and
thank you everyone for your kind attention.
