INTRODUCTION
The school is a social institution entrusted with the formal education of the youth in the
society. Sports activities have been known to be one component of the educational programs
(Sports-Track). The curriculum shapes instruction by mapping out for teachers what students
should be taught and how their acquisition of knowledge and skills should be assessed. The
provision of adequate facilities, supplies and equipment are as important as providing adequate
incentive for the athletes, but the lack of such adequate facilities, supplies and equipment use by
It is estimated that 6 out of 10 students have the equipment to improve their skills
regarding to their fields in sports, and that out of this figure. There are still some students that
lacks the equipment. Thus, it results to funding the lack of equipment for the students to use in
times of activities. Traditionally, at the secondary schools level, facilities, supplies and
equipment management are usually the responsibilities of those persons who are in-charge of
physical education and sports programs. The facilities for which they are responsible including
the outdoor facilities. Facilities, supplies and equipment management includes not only the
effective scheduling, operation, and maintenance of such facilities, supplies and equipment but
also, at times, planning new structures to keep pace with the demand for participation in physical
education and sports programs of the school. (Crompton 2005; Cohen 1996; Flynn 1993; Pate et
al 1997).

BACKGROUND
Studies have shown that programs designed to improve the quality of Physical Education
can increase the amount of time that students are engaged in MVPA (Moderate-to-Vigorous
Physical Activity). The effective performance of physical education and sports programs in
secondary schools involves the Determination, allocation and development of funds for the
achievement of the school sports programs. Sports Studies examines different kinds of athletic
endeavor within the context of the broader culture, present and past. It commonly utilizes
methodologies derived from the social sciences, including history, sociology, economics,
psychology, and other disciplines. On average, secondary schools only have around 70% of the
necessary equipment they require for each upcoming academic year. This places more pressure
on schools, especially since the announcement from the Department for Education stating that
Schools are responsible for sourcing the correct school equipment and providing it to their
students, everything ranging from pencils to high-tech equipment. This can all eat into a school’s
budget and may result in making cuts in other places, so that the right equipment can be sourced.
OBJECTIVES
The research paper seeks to achieve its general objective of funding equipment in school: To

1. To determine the improvement in skills of the student’s with the proper equipment to be
handed in school.
2. To assess the proper funding of the equipment that is necessarily needed in the student’s
performances.
Research Questions
2. How will it affect the students to advance in improving their skills and physical education in
Sports Track?
3. How will you assess the level of improvement in skills base on the student’s capabilities?
METHODOLOGY
The study intends to use a cross sectional survey in determining the lack of equipment to be
funded, this is also to gain or advanced the improvement in skills of the student’s physical
education in Sports-Track. The study will sample the number of students in Zamboanga del Sur
National High School (SHS) in Sports-Track. The study will collect both primary data and
secondary, and the quantitative data generated will be analyzed using descriptive statistics which
will include the percentage of lacking equipment. The qualitative data from the study will
undergo transcription and reported in themes and sub-themes. The relationship between the
