Answer the following questions. Kindly answer in not less than (5) sentences. Use the sheets
provided in the appendices for your answers.
1. In your own words, how can you define a healthy lifestyle?
 In general, a healthy lifestyle lowers the chance that you will fall seriously ill or die early.
Although not all diseases are preventable, a significant number of deaths, particularly
from coronary heart disease and lung cancer, can be prevented. Health goes beyond
avoiding disease; it entails a sense of physical, mental, and social wellbeing as well.
Studies have identified certain types of behavior that can contribute to the onset of
noncommunicable diseases. Adopting a healthy lifestyle provides a positive role model
for other members of the family, especially children. Good health is not just the absence
of disease or illness, it is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. This
means eating a balanced diet, getting regular exercise, avoiding tobacco and drugs and
getting plenty of rest. Our bodies are like machines that require a balance of protein,
carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals and water to stay in good working order. Get the
balance wrong and your health will suffer. A balanced diet means eating only as many
calories as you use during the day. Any excess will be stored as fat if you eat more than
you burn off. You know the obvious behaviors that describe someone who is healthy and
takes care of themselves. A healthy person doesn't smoke, tries to maintain a healthy
weight, eats healthy foods with plenty of fruits, vegetables and fiber and, of course,
exercises on a regular basis.
A healthy person also knows how to manage stress, gets good quality sleep each night,
doesn't drink too much, doesn't sit too much—basically, does everything in moderation
all the time. And that’s the healthy lifestyle.
2. Aside from the given examples, what do you think are other components of a healthy
lifestyle? Explain your answer.
 In my opinion, the other components of a healthy lifestyle are: Increase Awareness:
make a list of all the physical activities you do on a typical day. If you find that the bulk
of your time is spent sitting, make another list of all the ways you could move more—
getting up each hour to stretch or walk, walk the stairs at work, etc. Reduce Screen
Time: schedule time when you turn off the TV and computer. Once a week, turn off all
screens and do something a little more physical with your family. Play games, take a
walk, do almost anything that will be more active than sitting on the couch. This can also
serve as good quality time with the family. Taking Fun Walks (Increase Daily Steps):
look for small ways to walk more. When you get the mail, take a walk around the block,
take the dog for an extra outing each day, or walk on your treadmill for five minutes
before getting ready for work. When you're on the phone, pace around or even do some
cleaning while gabbing. This is a great way to stay moving while doing something you
enjoy. Do Some Chores: get housework done and increase daily movement at the same
time. Shoveling snow, working in the garden, raking leaves, sweeping the floor—these
kinds of activities may not be vigorous exercise, but they can keep you moving while
getting your house in order.

Creating a healthy lifestyle doesn't have to mean drastic changes. You may adapt to
change better when it doesn't require you to overhaul your entire life. Just pick one thing
and work on that one thing every day, letting the rest of your life and habits stay the
same. You may be surprised that those small changes really can make a difference.
3. Do you think living a healthy lifestyle during the pandemic is important? Explain your
answer.
 The COVID-19 pandemic has had an adverse effect on many different levels, whether
they be economic, social, or emotional. In this evolving reality, those who want to engage
in physical activity to help maintain a healthy lifestyle will have to keep an open mind
and adapt to the limitations imposed by the pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic is
causing a lot of changes in our daily lives. We are social distancing, staying home, and
unable to dine out at restaurants. It can be easy to slip into unhealthy eating habits during
this stay-at-home period, but with a little thought and preparation, maintaining a healthy
diet doesn’t have to be a chore. Good nutrition is always important, but during this
pandemic, it’s even more important because a well-balanced diet of nutritious foods helps
support a strong immune system. The good news is; you don't have to change everything
at the same time. In fact, the trick to healthy living is making small changes—taking
more steps each day,1 adding fruit to your cereal, having an extra glass of water, or
saying no to that second helping of buttery mashed potatoes. One thing you can do right
now to make your lifestyle healthier is to move more.

Living healthy lifestyle in times like this is important, some of the benefits include:
enhances self-esteem, helps maintain flexibility as you age, improves joint stability,
improves memory in elderly people, improves mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and
depression, increases and improves range of motion, maintains bone mass, prevents
osteoporosis and fractures, reduces stress, reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, and
diabetes.
4. How will you promote the importance of living a healthy lifestyle to your family,
community and friends?
 Maintaining healthy habits from the start can help our families grow and develop to their
full potential and help our whole family avoid lifestyle problems that can occur later in
life, such as overweight and obesity, type-2 diabetes, types of cancer and high blood
pressure. Here are some tips to help our and your family live a healthy lifestyle: by
promoting healthy eating inside and outside of our home, as family, remind them and
yourselves of the basic foods, being aware of serving size, make some distinction
between “everyday” and sometimes” foods, establishing healthy eating routines, making
physical activity as a part of everyday life and enjoy the activity as a family, also
encourage them to value his/her body for what it can do rather than how it looks, lastly,
set as a good example. One to promote a healthy lifestyle in our community is to
volunteer in organizations or groups that endeavor to make our community healthier. It
can be anything like tree planting, cleaning up the litter, or providing healthy meals to the
elderly or to the less fortunate. We can even encourage other people in the neighborhood
to get involved in these activities, too. It may seem like doing these things won’t do much
for the community, but these small actions will absolutely make a difference in the long
run. We may even think that we are just one person, but what we can do for the
community now can definitely make a difference to a lot of people. When it comes to our
friends we can promote the importance of living a healthy lifestyle by simply eating
healthy foods and balanced meals, sleeping well and managing stress, practicing safe sex,
drinking alcohol responsibly and not abusing drugs, being physically active, staying
connected with others. As I said earlier, it’s not just about promoting living healthy
lifestyle, it is setting as a good example to them. So, we can encourage them to do such
thing.
