Exporting Point Descriptions

To export point descriptions, complete the following steps.


1. Go to System Point Database and highlight D.20 Peripheral application or the application from
which you want to export the point descriptions.
2. Click Description.
3. From the menu bar, click the Export button (the red arrows point away from the document).
4. On the Export Point Descriptors dialog box, select All Point Types; then click OK.
5. On the Select Source Point Descriptor Directory dialog box, navigate to the path where the point
descriptors are located; then click Select.

Result: The export process begins. When the export process is complete, the files are located in the
directory you specified

Importing Point Descriptions


To import point descriptions from a spreadsheet, complete the following steps.
1. Open the spreadsheet that contains the point descriptions.
2. Highlight all of the analog input point descriptions.
3. From the Edit menu, select Copy to copy the selection to the clipboard.
4. Open a text editor such as Notepad.
5. From the Edit menu, select Paste.
6. Save the document with the name AIDESC.TXT.

Note: The name of this file is very important. Config Pro uses the following naming conventions:

Analog Input AIDESC.TXT

Digital Input DIDESC.TXT

Accumulators CTDESC.TXT

Digital Output DODESC.TXT

Analog Output AODESC.TXT

Device DVDESC.TXT

7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for digital input, accumulator, digital output and analog output points.
8. Start Config Pro and open the RTU configuration you want to configure.
9. After changing all hardware setups, go to System Point database and highlight D.20 Peripheral
application.
10. Click Description.
11. From the menu bar, click the Import button as shown:
12. On the Import Point Descriptors dialog box, select All Point Types; then click OK.
13. On the Select Source Point Descriptor Directory dialog box, navigate to the path where the point
descriptors are located; then click Select.

Result: The import process begins.
