I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. explain the brief history and background of the folkdance Irish Lilt;
b. identify the counting, costume and formation used in the dance;
c. share the value and importance of dancing folkdances:
d. listen to the music of the dance Irish Lilt;
e. execute the basic steps of the Irish dance; and
f. perform the whole routine of the dance with costume.

This afternoon I will present to


you another way of socializing
with your friends or activity that
you could do when you get bored.

Exactly, this activity is not new to


us because ever since our
ancestors already practice dancing
that’s why we have a lot of
folkdances which shows/portrays
the life they lived before.

To be specific, this afternoon we


will be learning all about the
dance Irish Lilt.

D. Lesson Proper
History of the Dance
We will start with discussing the
history of the dance. Where do you
think the Irish dance was
originated?
It starts with letter “L” and ends Ireland
with “D” a country somewhere in
Europe.

Exactly it was originated in Ireland


during the 18th century. It is a solo
or group dance therefore it does
not need a partner just as other
folkdances. It was dance during
social dances/gatherings,
competition and performance
purposes.

It is a very lively dance suitable for


girls.

Counting
How do you count the 2/4 time
signature? The students will clap their Observation
hands showing the counting
of the dance.
The dance is 2/4 time signature
counting one two or one two and
to a measure or one two three four
in two measures.

Costume
The teacher will show a picture of
the dance costume.

Dance Formation
What do you think is the
formation of the dance?

There is no specific formation of No idea sir.


the dance if you are the
choreographer you may place the
dancers in any desired formation.
The students will be ask to make
their own formation. Supposed Two students will come in Board activity
there were 6 dancers. front to make their own
formation writing it on the
board.
Activity 1: Listening to music
The teacher will play the music of
the dance Irish Lilt The students will listen to
the music of the dance

It is not clear, it’s nice.

It has fast tempo.
Activity 2: Performing the basic
dance steps of the dance

The teacher will call 4 pairs of


students to demonstrate the basic
dance steps. They will be the
leaders for the group activity later.

Study the important information about the international folkdance Irish Lilt
because next meeting before we are going to perform the first 3 figures of the
dance we will have a short quiz.
