Pranay Bankar's project report summarizes his work on weather forecasting. He identified weather forecasting as a vital application in meteorology that requires collecting data on the current atmospheric state and understanding laws of atmospheric development. His solution was to provide forecast information to the public through TV, radio, and communication links to enable cyclone warnings. The project required skills in observing vast amounts of data from systems ranging from small thunderstorms to large storms lasting days. Key learnings included how quantitative data and meteorology are used to project atmospheric changes. The conclusion was that weather forecasts are increasingly accurate and useful to a wide economic range of users.

# Project Problem Statement
Weather forecasting is the application of science and technology to predict the conditions of
the atmosphere for a given location and time. People have attempted to predict
the weather informally for millennia and formally since the 19th century. Weather forecasts are
made by collecting quantitative data about the current state of the atmosphere at a given place
and using meteorology to project how the atmosphere will change.

# Why does this problem need to be solved.

A sufficiently accurate knowledge of the state of the atmosphere at the initial time.
A sufficiently accurate knowledge of the laws according to which one state of the atmosphere
develops from another.

# How did you identified this problem ? Literature review

Weather forecasting is a vital application in meterology and has been one of the most
scientifically and technologically challenging problem around the world. Primary users for the
system are general public. Aviation forecasters use them in order to keep an eye on surface
observations for wind shear, restrictions to visibility that could affect takeoffs and landings.

# How you are going to give solution to this problem?

Facilities for weather prediction and forecasting like T.V. and radio which can give cyclone
warning in advance.Quick information and communication linkages so that information can
spread quickly.

# Skills and Technologies needed for project?

The Internet allows NMHSs to present hydrometeorological forecasts and warnings and climate
information to customers, partners and the public in graphic and digital formats that would
otherwise be unavailable. It also provides opportunities to enhance and expand service
delivery.

# Scope Of Your Project

Weather forecasts are often made by collecting quantitative data about the current state of the
atmosphere and using scientific understanding of atmospheric processes to project how the
atmosphere will evolve in future. ... Weather forecasting entails predicting how the present
state of the atmosphere will change.

# Project Development life cycle for

The methods include persistence, climatologic, looking at the sky, use of barometer,
nowcasting, use of forecasting models, analogue and ensemble forecasting.

# Challenges during development phases that may need to be faced

Weather forecasting is a complex and often challenging skill that involves observing and
processing vast amounts of data. Weather systems can range from small, short lived
thunderstorms only a few miles in diameter that last a couple hours to large scale rain and
snow storms up to a thousand miles in diameter and lasting for days.

# Key learning of Project

Weather forecasts are made by collecting quantitative data about the current state of the
atmosphere at a given place and using meteorology to project how the atmosphere will
change. ... Forecasts based on temperature and precipitation are important to agriculture, and
therefore to traders within commodity markets.

#Conclusion
weather forecasts are increasingly accurate and useful, and their benefits extend widely across
the economy. ... Simultaneously, they are developing new technologies and observational
networks that can enhance forecaster skill and the value of their services to their users.
