(M2-TECHNICAL) Introduction To Computer

This document outlines a laboratory exercise on the evolution of computers. The exercise addresses learning outcomes related to understanding computing concepts and identifying computing resources. Students are asked to create a video presentation tracing the evolution of computers from early mechanical devices through modern information technology trends. The presentation will be graded based on content, organization, and quality. Background information provides an overview of the early history of computing through binary arithmetic. Students are instructed to research the timeline of computer development, gather images and information, and produce a video from oldest to current technologies.

 Understand best practices and standards and their applications. [PO: M]

II. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOME/S (CLO) ADDRESSED BY THE LABORATORY EXERCISE

 To understand and apply knowledge of computing concepts and fundamentals. [CLO: 1]
 To identify computing resources and technologies and understand their capabilities and limitations. [CLO: 2]

III. INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOME/S (ILO) OF THE LABORATORY EXERCISE

At the end of this exercise, students must be able to:

 Understand the evolution of computers.
 Use any video editing software to create a presentation.

IV. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The term Computer originally meant a person capable of performing numerical calculations with the help of a
mechanical computing device. The foundation stone of the development of computers was laid way back in the
era before Christ. Binary arithmetic is at the core of computer systems.

This lab activity will help you become more familiar with the evolution of computers from the first machine up to
the latest trends of IT.
