Introduction
Data management is the process of gathering, storing, accessing, and securing data from
multiple corporate software systems. Using data management leads to more efficient access
to data analytics, which provide the insights required to optimise corporate operations and
discover possibilities for change. In the case report, the effective understanding of data
management broad concepts will be developed, also different measure to store, collect,
manipulate and clean data will be determined. The data management strategy will be
recommended for Slow Fashion Pty Ltd company. The pre-proposal or data management
solution will be provided to the company in an effective manner.

3
Strategy of Data Management
The process of preparing or developing strategies/plans for handling an organization's data
that is generated, stored, controlled, and processed is known as data management strategy. It
is a procedure in IT governance that seeks to formulate and construct a well-planned strategy
to managing an organization's data resources. From the case scenario, it has been analysed
that Slow Fashion Pyt Ltd, is a fast-growing fashion online business. The company is
planning to outsource its data management function to a reputed organisation that is capable
to manage its data. According to a recent research, big data is being utilised more and more in
the fashion sector for “trend forecasting, logistics, consumer behaviour analysis, preferences,
and feelings.” Data analysis has already begun to play a significant role in anticipating client
behaviour and purchasing trends in the fashion sector (Punt, et al., 2016). Data analytics is
assisting fashion businesses with their marketing efforts as well as in determining the best
goods to bring to market.

It can be seen that Big Data Analytics can be effective data management strategy for Slow
Fashion Pyt, Ltd. Big data analytics may assist in making judgments about consumer
demands based on predictive analysis. This is also beneficial in terms of resource availability
over time. The firm uses data mining in its marketing activities (Tsai, et al., 2015).

Kind of Data to be managed

In the fashion business, data trends play an important part in driving decisions and strategies
that create sales, acquire a better knowledge of clients, and increase total profit. Data is used
by fashion designers and firms on a daily basis to manage a successful fashion company.

Figure 1 Sources of Big Data

4
The above image depicts the different sources of big data. The slow Fashion company will
manage different types of data such as transactional data, master data, metadata, reporting
data and many others. The company will also make use of Document management system
for storage of documents with easy access facility. The fashion company will manage such
data with the use of big data analytics and adopt advance technology to have track of all
records (Zakir, et al., 2015).

Staff members managing data and hierarchy used by them

Several departments are engaged in maintaining and controlling data, but the finance
department is usually in charge. Because an organization's performance is typically evaluated
in financial terms, the financial system is naturally strongly involved in defining and
assessing success. The management of all sorts of data will be handled by five members of
the Slow Fashion company's staff. A data manager and a data assistant will work alongside
two additional data management officers to form the team. Only experts with expertise and
abilities in big data, data management, and analytics will be picked for the team. The
objective of big data management is to guarantee that data is of high quality and easily
accessible for business analytics and big data analytics systems (George, et al., 2014). The
associate data manager will be responsible for the company's data quality. They will also be
responsible for data input, record keeping, data quality control, and the generation of
statistical reports from the database.

Resources required to manage Data

It is very essential for organisation to have effective resources to handle or manage its
organisation data. The software like Database management system helps in controlling
database and allow end users to access them efficiently. The major resources for
implementation of Big Data analytics in fashion company includes financial resources,
computer system, software and many more.

Types of Deliverables provided to retailer

A deliverable is an object, either real or intangible, that is provided to a client as part of a
project. A delivery is anything that a client is promised as an outcome of the project. The
company will provide effective data deliverables to its clients such as reports, databases,
documentation and many more. Both soft and hard components will be provided to clients.
The fashion firm will also provide a database management system and online training for
users, as well as supplemental guides with detailed instructions on how to utilise the system.

5
Operations of General Data Management
The data management procedure consists of a number of activities that work together to
ensure that the data in business systems is correct, available, and approachable. The Slow
Fashion company will conduct out admission operations such as gathering, validating,
preserving, and analysing data to allow simple access by users while also ensuring the
customers' and firm's reputation. In general, data management activities will consist of a set
of basic data management functions. The business will build a database, install necessary
software, establish data security, and handle database backups and updates (Polyzotis, et al.,
2017).

Implementation of Data management policy

The firm will develop data management standards with the participation of the company's
managers and operational stakeholders. The policy framework will attempt to secure and
protect the firm's data privacy. The following are the measures that can be adopted by fashion
company to implement data management policy:

Focus on Start with the Invest in tools

Keep the entire
customer- data which is and skills for

Management of metadata and data quality

The goal of metadata is to define processes and infrastructure for clarifying and broadening
clear and organised information about the structured and unstructured assets under
administration, fostering and sponsoring data sharing, guaranteeing compliant data use,
getting better responsiveness to business changes, and limiting data-related risks (Aljumaili,
et al., 2016). Metadata management is critical in any corporate organisation because it

6
enhances data quality, consistency, and correctness. Big data will manage metadata for the
fashion industry through smart data governance. Policies will be in place to guarantee that
information can be easily accessed and controlled. Metadata governance is extremely
important for the school, especially when making decisions. It will examine the standards,
roles, and responsibilities associated in operational operations including metadata integration.
Data quality comprises of following measures:

Figure 2 Data quality attributes

Way to audit data management practice and access quality

Auditors can utilise big data to broaden the scope of their investigations and make
comparisons across bigger data sets. Big data is also assisting financial auditors in
streamlining reporting and detecting fraud. To guarantee that data quality is controlled,
corporate executives will conduct a regular audit of the data management procedures. They
will also make certain that the data characteristics are measured. Because they have tested it
on previous client's projects, the quality of data in the fashion company will be excellent as a
result of this. The fashion firm will control data quality by establishing suitable standards that
will advise data officers on data dissemination. Data governance rules must be followed in
data quality management (El Arass, et al., 2018).

Collecting user and business requirements from the clients

Client requirements are the different demands that a user may have while engaging with a
given system. They describe the user's preferences. The management of the fashion firm will
do research and gather information from the key user of the information systems. The study
of user data will assist the development team in determining what to include in big data

7
systems. The user requirement is to engage its staff focus more on product development and
customer service. The different techniques to collect client requirement includes:

 Talking to stakeholders and meeting them regularly

 Practice active listening
 Prioritizing products features
 Focusing in business requirements not tools

Data Architecture and Platforms

Data architecture consists of standards, concepts, and rules that guide the data collecting and
storage process, as well as how the information will be linked with the underlying systems.
The firm will employ physical information architecture, which has long been an important
component of information systems. Database architecture will also be used. A big data
architecture is intended to manage data intake, processing, and analysis that is too massive or
complicated for standard data systems. It will help fashion company to manage its data and
enhance productivity of its employees (Bilal, et al., 2016).

Protection of Legacy Data

The legacy data can be managed through risk management and data security practices. The
business will guarantee that the system is configured with security firewalls to prevent
unauthorised access to the school's data. In addition, it will generate a manual data
abstraction.

Benefits would the retailer have as a result of outsourcing this service

The major benefits of using big data in Slow Fashion Pty Ltd are as follows:

 Increase in employee’s efficiency

 Big data enhances prices
 Helps in cutting business cost
 Increase sales and loyalty
