The first day of school is always a great fun. The students of class five were very excited
about their new classmates and teachers. They were waiting for the school bell and the start
of the first period.
Miss Sarah was their new class teacher. She was very popular among students because of her
good nature. The school bell rang and the students sat quietly on their seats. Miss Sarah
entered the classroom with a smile on her face. All the students stood up and spoke to class.
Teacher: It seems that you are a very good class. Your behavior is excellent and your uniform
is neat and clean. Our first lesson is about cleanliness. I will ask you some questions, please
reply honestly. My first question is, “How often do you take bath?”
Hassan: Miss, I take a bath daily?
Teacher: That’s very good, I am pleased. We must take a bath daily. My next question is
“how often do you wash your hands after using the toilet?”
Omar: Miss, I wash my hands after using the toilet because my mom has told me.
Teacher: Dear students, we should wash our hands with soap after using the toilet and before
and after taking meals. Now tell me “How many times do you brush your teeth?”
Ali: Miss, when I get up in the morning, I brush my teeth.
Teacher: It’s very good but you should also brush your teeth before going to bed at night.
What about your nails dear? “After how many days do you cut them?”
Omar: “Miss, every Sunday.”
Teacher: It’s fine. Dear students, you know cleanliness is half of the faith in islam. We
perform ‘wuzu or ablution’ before saying prayers. It removes dirt and we feel neat and fresh.
I have noticed one thing that you have thrown some papers and wrappers on the floor around
your desks. We should also take care of your surroundings. We should keep our classroom
clean. Any waste material should be put into the dustbins. Now promise me that you will
keep yourselves and surroundings clean.
8. Activity: (Time:10)
Teacher will ask students to evaluate their classroom and desks, somewhere they find dust
and garbage clean these.
