PECs Questionnaire 1
Name: _________________________________________________________
Part I-A Directions: This questionnaire consists of 55 brief statements. Read each statement and describe how
well it describes you. Be honest to yourself. Select one of the numbers to indicate how well the statement describes you.
Use the ratings 5 – Always, 4 – Usually, 3 – Sometimes, 2 – Rarely and 1 – Never. Write your answer beside the number.
Some statements maybe similar but no two are exactly alike. Please answer all questions. Note: Use pencil for easy editing.
PEC’s Self – Rating Questionnaire
Part I-B Directions: Below is a PECs Profile Sheet. On the scale of 0 – 25 (with 0 to mean absent and 25 signify very
strongly present), put an “X” of the point that approximated the presence or absence of the PECs listed on the left side
of the profile sheet.
Part II Directions: Refer to yours answers in the Self-Rating Questionnaire in Part I. Enter your ratings on the lines
above the item numbers in parenthesis. Notice the item numbers in each column are arranged is ascending order
(column). It will be much easier for you to transfer your ratings vertically than horizontally.
_____ + _____ + _____ + _____ - _____ + 6 = _________ Commitment to the Work Contract
(3) (14) (25) (36) (47)
_____ + _____ - _____ + _____ + _____ + 6 = _________ Demand for Quality and Efficiency
(4) (15) (26) (37) (48)
_____ + _____ + _____ - _____ + _____ + 6 = _________ Systematic Planning and Monitoring
(8) (19) (30) (41) (52)
Part III Directions: As soon as you have finished filling in the 55 lines, do the addition and subtraction indicated in each
row to complete each PEC score. Take note that for each row there is always one subtraction to perform and an addition
of a constant number 6 at the end, except for the last row where you have three subtraction operations and a constant
number 18. Make sure that your sum on any PEC row (except the last row) does not exceed 25. If it does, review your
addition and subtraction.
The last row of your score sheet is marked “CORRECTION ERROR”. The correction error (items 11,22,33,44 and
55) is used to determine whether a person tries to present a very favorable image of himself or herself. Now look at your
total for this row. If your total score for this factor is 20 or greater, then the total score to the 10 PECs must be

corrected to provide a more accurate assessment of the strength of your PEC’s score. If it is 19 or less, then this original
score will also be your corrected total.
Use the correction sheet below and use it to correct each PEC score. Under the column marked “ORIGINAL
SCORE”, copy the score for each of your PEC. In determining what number to fill in under the column marked
“CORRECTION NUMBER”, use the following bases:
If the correction factor score is Subtract the following number from each PEC Score
24 and 25 7
22 and 23 5
20 and 21 3
19 or less 0
Your “Correction Number” will apply to all the PECs. Then, subtract the “Correction Number” from the “Original
Score” the difference is the “CORRECTED TOTAL”.
Part IV Directions: Refer to the PECs Profile Sheet that you accomplished in Part I-B of this exercise. Using a different
color of pen, transfer the “Corrected Total” for each PEC to the Profile Sheet by marking an “X” at the appropriate point
on the horizontal line for each PEC.
Discuss the following questions (in your row) and write your personal answer below each questions:
1. Which of the two graphs do you think better approximated your PECs? Why?
________________________________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________________________________
2. Based on the second graph, which PECs are you strong at relative to the other PEC’s (that is, those with ratings higher
than most of the PECs)?
________________________________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________________________________
3. Which PECs are you weak and relative to the other PECs (that is, those with rating lower than most of the PECs)?
________________________________________________________________________________________________
4. Single out three (3) PECs to focus your attention on. These are PECs you either want to strengthen because they are
weak ones or PECs you want to build on further because they are already strong.
o Neither a strength nor a weakness
PEC 1: _____________________________
This PEC is one of my: If it is strength, what will you do to build on this further?
o Strengths If it is a weakness, how can you strengthen this?
