RENS

The document provides an electrical design analysis for a residence in Rosario, Cavite, Philippines. It calculates the total electrical load to be 22,230 VA. The required main service feeder is calculated to be 2- 30 mm2 THHN line wires and 1- 8.0 mm2 THHN ground wire. The required service equipment rating is a 100 AMP MCB with a 20 KAIC and 230 Volts. The maximum voltage drop is calculated to be 0.45% which is within the allowable 5% limit. The minimum short circuit rating of the main circuit breaker is determined to be 4.83 KAIC.

ELECTRICAL DESIGN ANALYSIS

PROJECT TITLE : CONCEPTION RESIDENCE

LOCATION : 037 AVE. MARIA STREET, ROSARIO , CAVITE, PHIL.

OWNER : MRS. IRENE C. CAPISTRANO

SUBJECT : ELECTRICAL CALCULATION AND DESIGN ANALYSIS

OBJECTIVE:

1. To provide design load analysis as required for verification of load schedule calculation.
2. To identify fault level at main protection for sizing of interrupting capacity of main circuit
breaker.
3. To check voltage drop to ensure good quality of power delivered to final load.

REFERENCE:

A. Philippine Electrical Code Vol. 1 – 2010 Edition

B. Proposed submitted electrical plan

PARAMETERS:

1. 5% maximum allowable voltage drop from Main power supply up to Final load
2. Main power supply : 230 Volt / 60Hz – Single Phase – 3 Wire service
3. Total floor area: 826 sq. m.

DESIGN ANALYSIS:

A. For Lighting Load :

Total floor area –150sq.m (24 watts/sq.m) - 3600
B. Small Appliances - 1000
C. Spare for lighting load - 1000
Total Load - 5600
D. Net Load:
2400 VA @ 100% DF - 3600
Remainder of 5600 @ 35% DF - 1960
Total Load - 5560
E. Net Load & Specific Load:
Net Load - 5560
Power - 5940
5-1HP Air Condition Unit - 3730
Other Power Outlet - 7000
Total Load - 22230

THEREFORE:

FLA = 96.65

= 96.65 AMP (80% DF)

= 77.32AMP + 25% (8)

= 79.32 AMP
FOR MAIN SERVICE FEEDER REQ. – (see section 4.30; 2.40 & 4.40; 1.7)

Provide: 2- 30 mm2 THHN – Line Wire

1-8.0 mm2 THHN – Ground Wire

FOR SERVICE EQUIPMENT RATING

Provide: 1- 100 AMP MCB – 20 KAIC

230 Volt – 2 Pole

FPN No. 1 – (see section 2.20. 1.3 (a)

For conductor & Overcurrent Protection AMP rating

FPN No. 2 – (see section 2.30, 2.3)

For minimum service entrance conductor

VOLTAGE DROP CALCULATION:

Voltage drop (VD) = I x (√R2 + X2) L/305

Whereas:

Z = √R2 + X2

Therefore:

Voltage Drop (VD) = I x Z X L/305

Where:

I- Line Current in AMP

Z- Effective Impedance for 30 mm2 Copper = 0.20

L- Length of wire / cable in meter / 305 m

Voltage Drop = 79.32 x .20 x 20/305

= 1.04 Volt

% Voltage Drop = VD / Base Volt x 100%

= 1.04 / 230 x 100%

= 0.45 %
Short Circuit Calculation:

TRANSFORMER KVA: 25 KVA

%IMPEDANCE OF 1.5 %

Isc = I X M

I = KVA X 1000/230

I = 25 X 1000/230 = 108.70

M = 100/%Z

M = 100/ (1.5 X 0.9) = 74.07

Isc = 108.70 X 74.07 = 8051.41 A

Isc = 8.051 KAIC

FAULT 1

F = 2 X L X Isc / C X N X V

F = 2 X 49.2 X 8051.41 / 5907 X 1 X 230 = 0.68

M = 1/1+F = 1/1+0.68 = 0.60

Isc = 8.051 X 0.60 = 4.83 KAIC

NOTE: MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER SHOULD NOT BE LESS THAN 4.83 KAIC

FAULT 2

F = 2 X L X Isc / C X N X V

F = 2 X 65.6 X 4830 / 5907 X 1 X 230 = 0.46

M = 1/1+F = 1/1+0.46 = 0.68

Isc = 8.051 X 0.68 = 5.47 KAIC

NOTE: MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER SHOULD NOT BE LESS THAN 3.70 KAIC
