HE Admissions Interview Record Checklist 2021 Updated NP
Please ensure that the following points are raised and explained. All sections must be
filled in:
1. Difference between College and University Centre
o Course content and Progression routes (Two-year programmes – please inform
applicants that progression onto the top-up year is not automatic, progression from
Y0 to Y1 FdA is automatic)
o How did the student find out about the course they have applied for please add to
box here
o Has applicant studied at university level before? If yes, give details (where/when)
o Duration of the contract (standard length of course full time and part time) –
reminder that Y0 entry is 3 years’ full time for student finance applications
o Total course costs (tuition fees, other costs i.e. trips, equipment, materials), refer to
website under wider information set for full details
o SEO – personal and academic
o Timetable – class contact time (up to 14 hours), semester delivery, amount of
days’/evenings commitment to self-directed hours outside of University Centre and
group sizes (hours dependent on group size)
o Importance of Attendance and Punctuality; student is expected to attend all
timetabled sessions, including Maths and English where applicable
o Work Based Learning model and placement opportunities
o Student Experience Team (SET), Student Governor, Student Council
o Campus – study location
o Staff expertise
o Courses running (low numbers will not run, ensure students are made aware of this
– new courses require 12, all other require 15 in each year minimum. There will be
a statement on the website for cut off times to let student know if a course will not
be running)
o Right Choice (week 5), end of semester 1 review, end of semester 2
o Retention and Progression Co-ordinators for Careers, IAG and support for At
Risk students, help with UCAS and Student Finance applications
o Safeguarding – children and vulnerable adults.
o Criminal convictions, spent or unspent, will need to be declared at enrolment.

3. The issue of learning support needs is raised and support structures outlined including:
