The learners have an understanding of the process of recruiting, selecting, and training
employees

Performance Standard:

The learners shall be able to conduct and prepare job analysis

Learning Competencies:

 Discuss the nature of Staffing

 Explain the steps in the recruitment and selection process
(ABM_AOM11-IIa-b-21)

I. Learning Objectives: At the end of the learning period, the students are expected to:

1. Identify and describe the nature of staffing.


2. Distinguish the different steps in recruitment and selection process.

II. Subject Matter: DEFINITION AND NATURE OF STAFFING, RECRUITMENT AND


SELECTION

Materials: Projector , Laptop

III. Learning Procedure:

A. Review
Students are asked of the previous topic discussed:
1. What are the Organization theories, and explain briefly?

B. Motivation
Guide Questions follow to stimulate their minds.
1. How does the Human Resource Management play an important role in the hiring
process?
2. Do you consider selecting employees to be hired is very crucial to the
organization? Explain your answer.

WHAT IS STAFFING?

- Process of recruiting, selecting, training and developing people.


- Putting the right men on the right job.
- Also called as Human Resource Management

RECRUITMENT

- Is the process of attracting qualified applicants to apply for a certain vacant position.
- It provides the organization with a pool of qualified job candidates from which to choose.

STEPS IN RECRUITMENT

STEP 1: JOB ANALYSIS

- Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Job Specifications

STEP 2: REQUISITION OF NEW EMPLOYEE

- To inform the personnel department, department head.


- To establish a valid need for the new position, indicate that funding and space are
available, and provide a source documents for posting the position.

STEP 3: THE ACTUAL RECRUITMENT

Sources of Applicants

 Internal Applicants
 External Applicants

SELECTION

- Is the process of getting the most qualified applicant from among different job seekers.
- Scheduling of the qualified applicants to preliminary interview and psychological testing
conducted by Human Resource Department (HRD)

STEPS IN SELECTION PROCESS

Step 1 – Reception of Applicants


Step 2 – Preliminary Interview
Step 3 – Applicant Form
Step 4 – Employment Test
Step 5 – Final Selection by Immediate Supervisor or Department head
Step 6 – Physical and Medical Examination
Step 7 – Hiring
Step 8 – Orientation / Induction / Indoctrination
