Given That Length of Pipe1, 2 3: Pipe 1 Length 1800 M: Solution

1. The document provides information to solve multiple pipe flow problems, including head loss calculations and determining water surface elevations. 2. It first calculates the head loss of 4.2 m from reservoir A to point D in a 1800m long 1200mm diameter pipe with friction factor f=0.02. 3. It then determines the water surface elevation in reservoir C is 6.9462m by calculating flows and head losses through two branched 1350m long 750mm diameter pipes connected to reservoirs B and C. 4. The final problem calculates the required output power of 3044 hp to pump 1.56 m3/s of water 110m vertically against a pressure of 250 kPa.

1. The discharge of the pipe system shown is 420 liters/sec.

Determine the head

loss from A to D. Assume f = 0.020

2. A 1200mm concrete pipe 1800 m long carries 1.35m 3/s from reservoir A,
discharging into two concrete pipes each 1350m long and 750mm in diameter.
One of the 750 mm pipes discharges into reservoir B, in which water surface is
6m lower than that in A. Determine the elevation of the water surface in reservoir
C, into which the other 750mm pipe discharges. Assume f = 0.02.
