1. PURPOSE/APPLICABILITY
The purpose of this procedure is to describe the way to install the A330 ACT Trainer by Airbus and
how to connect it to the Airbus LMS.

2. PREREQUISITES.
2.1. Hardware.
The hardware must comply with the last classroom specification as per document:
“ACT_SA_LR_A380_A350_Classroom_Technical_ Specification”.

Make sure that the computer on which the ACT Trainer by Airbus will be installed has at least:

 CPU : Intel Core i7-2820QM, 2300 MHz (4 physical cores)

 RAM: 8 GB of DDR3 (MT2D requires up to 3GB)
 GPU: NVIDIA® Quadro® 1000M or better. The graphic card must accept 1920 by 1080
pixels definition.
 GPU RAM : 2 GB of DDR3
 Hard Drive: 8GB of free space.
 All drivers are up to date

2.2. Software

The ACT Trainer by Airbus can be installed with:

- Windows 7 Enterprise operating system 64 bits
- Windows 10 Enterprise operating system 64 bits

Make sure that the following software are installed on the computer:
 Visual C++ 2005  available on DVD in Add-Ons folder
 Visual C++ 2008  available on DVD in Add-Ons folder
 Visual C++ 2010  available on DVD in Add-Ons folder
 Acrobat Reader Version 10 at least
 Java 1.6.0_13 and Java 1.8.0_45 at least

From the Control panel apply the following configuration to the computer

Select Power Options

Select high performance

Click on Change plan settings

In put the computer to sleep select

Never

Click Save Changes

2.3. ACT Trainer screen configuration

The ACT Trainer by Airbus can be used in mono screen or dual screens. The resolution of the
display must be 1920x1080 pixels.

Laptop and additional monitor (the laptop must be placed on the left of the additional monitor)

Screen 1 Screen 2 (main display)

Single laptop

To define a screen as main display

In a dual screen configuration, right click on the Desktop and Select Screen Resolution

Click on Screen 2.

Note: In Multiple displays the option selected

must be Extend these displays

If this screen is not already the main display

tick Make this my main display.

3. Installation
When the ACT Trainer is running, do not change the network configuration :
- Plug a network wire if it was not plugged
- Unplug a network wire if it was plug
- If required, quit the ACT Trainer, plug/unplug the network wire and launch the
ACT Trainer again.

When the ACT Trainer is running, it is not advised to run other programs if they take
more than the required ACT Trainer resources.

Special information about Antivirus

Installed antiviruses can significantly reduce ACT Trainer performances. If you have installed an
antivirus, we recommend, if possible, to de-activate your antivirus before launching the ACT Trainer
or, If not possible, add an exception to avoid scanning the root folder (C:\MTD and
%APPDATA%\MTD).
Please refer to the specific documentation of your antivirus.

To avoid problems of compatibility you must first uninstall any previous version of the
A330 ACT Trainer present on the computer and delete all the temporary files.

3.1. Uninstall previous version of the A330 ACT Trainer

1) From Windows Control Panel  Program and Features

3.2. ACT Trainer installation

To perform the installation, the user must have the administrator rights on the computer.

1) If not already done from a previous ACT Trainer by Airbus installation, create a folder C:\MTD
and give full rights to the Windows’s user “Users” on this folder.

2) Insert the DVD-ROM “A330 ACT Trainer by Airbus Version 1.0.0” Ref GHA18431.

Run x:\ACT_Trainer\Setup.exe

Click Next

Accept the agreement

Click Next

3.3. License
Prior running the ACT Trainer you must register the product.
3.3.1. Software License
1) From the installation media
Copy x:\MT2D.LIC to C:\Installation_Directory\Settings

If you have followed the installation procedure recommendations, the file shall be copied in
C:\MTD\A330-MT2D-V1.0.0\Settings

2) From the installation media, right click on x:\RegisterLicense.exe

and select Run as administrator (Even if you already have administrator rights)

Enter the License Identification Number

delivered with the ACT Trainer

Click OK

The ACT Trainer is now available.

Click This program installed correctly

3.3.2. Hardware License

1) From the installation media
Copy x:\MT2D.LIC to C:\Installation_Directory\Settings

If you have followed the installation procedure recommendations, the file must be copied in
C:\MTD\A330-MT2D-V1.0.0\Settings

2) Connect the dongle (Hardware key) delivered with the DVD to a free USB port.

3.4. Start/Stop the ACT Trainer

4. Progress Monitoring Tool

This tool is used for practical exercises only.
It is made of 2 parts:
- a VLEARN server
- a client installed on each ACT Trainer. This part is automatically installed with the ACT
Trainer. You only need to configure the client in order to get connected to the VLEARN
server.

4.1. VLEARN Server Installation

If you have already a VLEARN server configuration available from a previous installation
you do not need to re-install the VLEARN. You can ignore this paragraph and go to the
next step.

We recommend to install one server per Aircraft type with a limit of 25 clients per server.

To install the Vlearn server run Chapter 2 of the documentation

4.2. Client Configuration

With Notepad, edit the file:
C:\Installation_Folder\CoreApplication\PMTool\configuration\pmt-config.ini

In a default installation path this file is

C:\MTD\A330-MT2D-V1.0.0\CoreApplication\PMTool\configuration\pmt-config.ini

In this file you have to set:

(1) The address server (Mandatory)

The address server is the IP address or the computer name of the Vlearn server installed in
Chapter 4.1 with a /Vlearn extension.
Example of address server:
- address=localhost/vlearn (If VLEARN is installed on the same computer)
- address=BLDAT53673.tls.fr.eu.airbus.corp/vlearn
- address=1.12.32.140/vlearn

(2) The port (Mandatory)

If you have change the default port 12234 assigned to the Apache server during the Vlearn server
installation, you must change this information with the new defined port.

(3) The course ID (Optional)

It is an alpha numeric field and it must be the same for all the ACT Trainers computers that belong
to the same classroom. It can be left blank. If set it must match a course ID declared in the Vlearn
server (see paragraph 4.1)

(4) The position (Optional)

This is a numeric field. Authorized values are from 1 to 34. It can be left blank.
Recommended value is from 1 to 6 if you are setting a standard ACT classroom.
For a dedicated course ID, 2 ACT Trainer computers must not have the same position value.

If a previous version of the ACT Trainer was already installed on the computer, you have
to delete the temporary files created by the PMTool.

From Windows Explorer,

Enter %appdata%\PMTool in this area, then
press enter

delete the file RuntimeSettings.ini

Enter “%programdata%\cs” in this area, then

press Enter

Delete the folder Vlearn

The course ID is an alpha numeric field. It allows all trainees using this course ID to be monitored by
the instructor in the classroom. This information will be required later during PMTool client
configuration in chapter 4.2

tool.

1) From the Media XN313161 run INSTALL\CLIENT\ RunTrainingDevice (2.0) EN.msi

Use the default setting installation.

2) Place again the ACT Trainer media in in the DVD reader and
copy X:\ LMS\RunTrainingDevice\G_MT2D.ini
to C:\Program Files (x86)\AIRBUS\RunTrainingDevice

5.4. Add Training Devices in the LMS

If your LMS is delivered by Airbus as a Virtual Machine (SecureLMS) you can ignore this
paragraph. All the corresponding information are already set in the LMS embedded in the
Virtual machine.

5.5. Add Practical Exercises Launcher

This Practical Exercise (PEX) Launcher is composed of HTML page that shall launch all the
A330 practical exercises.

If your LMS is delivered by Airbus as a Virtual Machine (SecureLMS) you can ignore this
paragraph. All the corresponding information are already set in the LMS embedded in the
Virtual machine.

1) Copy the folder x\LMS\A330_PEX_Viewer in the data folder of your LMS.

If you do not know where is the data folder of the LMS, you could found this
information in the file
C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Group\LMS_Settings\webcmi.conf
(in this example it is C:\data)

2) Create the following Training Devices (TD) in the LMS

Name: A330 Practical Sessions (P1)

Description: A330 Practical Sessions (P1)

6. CLEAN - Reinitialize Configuration

To clean your configuration and make it available to users, perform the following actions:

1) Delete ACT trainer Temporary Files

In windows explorer enter %appdata%

Delete the folder MTD

2) Delete PMTool Temporary Files

In windows explorer enter %appdata%

Delete the folder PMTool

3) Delete VLEARN server Temporary Files

In windows explorer enter %programdata%

Delete the folder CS
