Warning
This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy, and if
not installed and used in accordance with the instructions in this manual, it may
cause interference to radio communication. This equipment has been tested and
found to comply with the limits of a Class A computing device pursuant to
Subpart J of part 15 of FCC rules, which are designed to provide reasonable
protection against such interference when operated in a commercial
environment. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause
interference. In which case, the user at his/her own expense will be required to
take whatever measures may be required to correct the interference.
The plotter must be earthed (grounded) via a three-wire power cable to a
dual-pole grounded power outlet with a maximum 16 Amp protection. Your
electrical installation must comply with the standards defined by the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC standard 950) and with the
current national standards.
If your plotter is connected to an “IT” power system (in which the neutral is
NOT considered to be at ground potential) the plotter must be protected by a
bi-pole circuit breaker which will cut both the active and neutral lines, in the
event of an electrical problem.
Ensure that the power outlet is close to the plotter and that the area around the
plotter is unobstructed, to allow access to the power switch.

General considerations
■ choose a stable, clean environment
- temperature between 5 - 35° C
- relative humidity between 10% - 90% RH non-condensing
- away from direct sunlight
- no rapid temperature or humidity changes
■ allow sufficient space around the front and back of the plotter to allow easy
operator access and unrestricted media travel during plotting
■ avoid placing the plotter directly in the path of a fan or vent as a high air flow
interferes with the ink flow of the inkjet cartridge
■ keep cables out of the media path

Chapter 5
Plot management
59
Color mode
The Océ 5200 plotter can print drawings in color or in monochrome.
If Color mode is set to Monochrome, the Océ 5200 plotter prints monochrome
plot files in monochrome and color plot files in grayscale.
If Color mode is set to Full Color, the Océ 5200 plotter prints monochrome plot
files in monochrome and color plot files in color.
When color mode has been set to Full Color, the Color led on the plotter control
panel is on. It is off when Color mode has been set to Monochrome.
High is recommended for high quality plots when you are printing drawings
with area fills.
The plotter works out the optimal printing parameters for each of your plots by
taking the following settings into consideration:
Plot management 61
Printing copies
If you want to print out more than one copy of a plot, set the Replot option on
the control panel menu on and then set the number of copies. You can print up
to 99 copies of a plot.
4 Use the left or right arrows to decrease or increase the number of copies.
5 Press the Enter key.
Note: # COPIES is only displayed on the plotter control panel if the REPLOT
menu has been turned on.
Media format
You can choose to set the plotter to one of three media format standards: ISO,
ANSI or ARCHITECT.
Choose the media format you want to use and press ENTER.
Plot management 63
Rotation
This function allows you to rotate a plot 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°. If necessary,
the origin of the plot is changed automatically to prevent the drawing from
being clipped.
The scaling factor can be set to an accuracy of two decimal places via the
control panel. For higher accuracy you can set the X and Y scaling factor to
four decimal places via a remote configuration file.
Plot management 65
Autoscaling
Note: Autoscaling can only be used with vector files.
Plot management 67
Media saver
Media Saver has two options, Autoposition and Nesting.
Note: Media Saver can only be used with roll media. When Cut Sheet mode is
selected, the Media Saver menu is hidden.
Media saver can only be used with vector files.
Nesting
Nesting arranges small drawings (A3, A4 for example) side by side across the
media to optimize the usage of roll media. Plots coming from the computer are
stored in wait files on the plotter according to their size. For example, if MEDIA
FORMAT is set to ISO there are three separate wait files: one for A4 format
drawings, one for A3 format drawings and one for A2 format drawings. When
a wait file is full, the drawings are printed across the full width of the media.
The number of drawings that can be added to a wait file depends on:
■ the MEDIA FORMAT selected (ISO, ANSI, ARCHITECT)
■ the width of the roll of media loaded on the plotter
■ the size of the drawing
■ the orientation of the drawing
Note: The A4 and A3 wait files may be merged to plot two A4 and one A3 plots
together.
If the plot is larger than A2 it will not be stored in a wait file, but will be plotted
normally. If plots are not ISO, ANSI or ARCHITECT standard sizes, the next
larger format will be used.
[29] Wait file organization on 36”/91.4 cm roll and Media Format set to ISO
Note: Files stored in Media Saver wait files are automatically printed out if the
Color Mode, the Quality mode or Rendering is changed.
Plot management 69
Autoposition
If you use this option, the origin declared in the plot file is ignored and the plot
data is automatically shifted to the lower right corner of the media. If necessary
the plots are rotated 90° to make better use of the available media and limit
clipping.
[30] Autoposition
Plot management 71
Mirroring
This function allows you to produce a mirror image of the original plot. There
are three options.

Chapter 6
Pens
75
Setting line widths
You can change the thickness of the lines on your plot by changing the pen
widths. Pen widths are available from 0.07 to 8.96 mm (0.003 to 0.353 inches).
By default, all pen widths are set to three pixels (0.21 mm). 1 pixel = 0.07 mm.
Scroll to PEN WIDTH values and use the left and right arrow keys to scroll to a
value. The values increase and decrease in increments of 0.01.
The colors printed when you request a printout of the color palette depend on
the setting of the HP-GL/2 Pen Priority parameter.
■ If HP-GL/2 pen priority is set to LANGUAGE, the color palette is printed with
the full range of standard HP-GL/2 colors, including RGB information.
This printout shows the range of colors the Océ 5200 can print. It consists of
256 color rectangles numbered 0 to 255. Use this printout to choose the colors
you wish to set the pens to.
If the pen color of a pen number is set to 55, for example, all lines printed with
this pen number will be printed with the same color as the palette’s rectangle
with the number 55.
■ If HP-GL/2 pen priority is set to SETUP, the color palette is printed with the
colors which have been set for each pen. Use this printout if you want to
know how the plotter pens have been configured.
Note: Text is always printed using pen number 1. Text will therefore be printed
with whichever color you have assigned to pen number 1.
Pens 77
Setting pen colors
Pen Color is only visible on the control panel when color mode is set to Full
Color. When color mode is set to Monochrome, Pen Color is replaced by Pen
Pattern.
You can set the 999 pens to any color from the 256 in the Océ color palette.
Attribute each pen a color value from 0 to 255. These values correspond to the
colors of the Océ Pen Palette.
Choose the pen number and assign a pen color and press ENTER.
You can set pens to draw a thick patterned line or fill a polygon.
All lines or polygons on the plot can be drawn with a predefined pattern or
shade of gray. Pen patterns 1 to 16 are increasing shades of gray (1 = white, 16
= black) and patterns 17 to 32 are as shown in figure 31.

patterned lines.
Pens 79
Pen priority
You can define pen parameters (width, color and pattern) from within the
software application plot data file, from the plotter control panel or in a remote
configuration file.
The pen priority option allows you to define which pen parameter set you wish
to use.
■ If LANGUAGE is selected: Pen parameters defined in the plot data file will be
used.
The pen priority option is available for Océ, HP-GL/2 and CalComp data
formats. The example given below is for HP-GL/2 setup.
Chapter 7
Plot data formats
The 5200 inkjet plotters recognize and interpret plot files in the
following formats:
BGL, VDF, HP-GL, HP-GL/2, HP-RTL, CalComp 906/907/951,
CALS, TIFF and PostScript (option).
This chapter addresses users with a good technical knowledge in plotter
operation.
81
Automatic language sensing
Automatic language sensing enables the plotter to switch between different
formats when you are working in a multi-format environment, where different
plotter drivers are being used.
The plotter automatically recognizes the host data language and uses the 5200
plotter parameters necessary for that plot data.
■ every plot data file must terminate with an end of plot instruction.
■ if you use HP-GL data format, all HP-GL instructions which modify the
protocol (set handshake, etc.) must not to be used when Automatic mode is
selected.
If your plot is not recognized correctly, send it again after making sure you
have selected the appropriate data format on the control panel or in a remote
configuration file.
Set the data format before sending your file to the plotter.
BGL comments
The following BGL statements have no meaning on the 5200: FA (frame
Advance), IC4 (request input, No op, 0.0 returned), RB (reset dictionary),
RR(replot rules), 76 (dictionary command).
Using color
The current application of BGL and VDF graphic languages does not allow
color programming. In order to obtain color plots we suggest that you assign
color to the pens via the control panel as explained in Chapter 6, Setting Pen
Colors or program pen colors by a remote configuration file.
HP-GL comments
The IN (initialize) statement will be interpreted as start of new plot. The following
HP-GL statements will be interpreted as end of plot: AF or PG (advance full
page), AH (advance half page) and RP (replot). Also, any instruction interpreted
as start of new plot will automatically end the current plot. Optionally, SP0 can
also be interpreted as an end of plot. See HP-GL page advance, below.
Transparency mode
This option controls the transparency when two or more colors intersect on the
same area fill. Refer to ‘Transparency mode’ on page 73.
■ PAGE ADVANCE is set to YES: the plotter is set to be compatible with HP-GL
plot files, in which a SP0 command signifies an end of plot.
■ PAGE ADVANCE is set to NO: the 5200 plotters respond to the HP-GL instruction
SP0 as select pen zero. Any vectors following the SP0 will be plotted with the
default pen attributes of width = 0.35 mm and pattern = 1 (white).
HP-GL/2 comments
HP-GL/2 plot data files must start with either BP (begin plot) or ESC%-1BBP.
HP-GL/2 plot data files must close with PG; (advance full page).
The following statements have no meaning on the 5200 and will be treated as
no-ops: DC (digitize clear), DP (digitize point), EC (enable cutter), FI (Select
primary font by ID), FN (Select secondary font by ID), LA (Line attributes),
MT (Media type), OD (output digitize point), QL (Quality level), SB
(Scalable or bit map fonts), ST (Sort) and VS (Velocity select).
Some HP-GL/2 commands must end with a semi colon, for example: PG; and
TR;.
Line attributes
This option controls the way the lines extremities on HP-GL/2 language are
drawn
■ PAGE ADVANCE is set to YES: the plotter is set to be compatible with HP-GL/2
plot files, in which a SP0 command signifies an end of plot.
■ PAGE ADVANCE is set to NO: the 5200 plotters respond to the HP-GL/2
instruction SP0 as select pen zero. Any vectors following the SP0 will be plotted
with the default pen attributes of width = 0.35 mm and pattern = 1 (white).
a.ESC%-1BBPIN;..... or,
b.BPIN;.....
■ You can select HP-GL/2 format from the control panel under SELECT
FORMAT.
■ You can use a Remote Configuration File command to select HP-GL/2
format, which gives the cleanest start-up on HP-GL/2.
■ The PG command is mandatory to properly close the HP-GL/2 file. Without
this command, the plot results will be unpredictable and the plotter may hang if
the next incoming file is also HP-GL/2. You may use the following to correctly
close an HP-GL/2 file:
a.PUSP0PG;or,
HP-RTL comments
HP-RTL is a subset of HP-GL/2. Hence, all HP-RTL plot data files must start
with ESC%-1BBPIN; or BPIN;
HP-RTL plot data files must close with ESC%0B; PG; which will switch the
plotter back to HP-GL/2 format mode. Without this command, the plot results
will be unpredictable and the plotter may hang.
Transparency mode
This option controls the transparency when two or more colors intersect on the
same area fill. Refer to ‘Transparency mode’ on page 73.
Checksum parameter
The checksum parameter is significant when CalComp format is selected,
when SELECT FORMAT is set to AUTO or a CalComp Remote Control command
is sent.
Values range from 0 to 30 DEC inclusive. The selected value is the decimal
equivalent of the byte indicating the end of the data sequence. It should be a
unique character in the character set used for coding the data.
Values range from 0 to 63 DEC inclusive. The selected value is the decimal
equivalent of the byte to be interpreted as the beginning of a block of plot data.
See figure 33 on page 87, to see the result of an incorrect step size.
See page 80 for details on CalComp pen priority.

Setting the menu access level
As the plotter can be operated in your work environment by users with
different skill levels, three menu access levels can be set. Passwords are used
to give authorized users access to the different levels.
At power on, when paper is loaded and the plotter is ready to process data, the
plotter displays:
<READY>
< V FOR MENU >
■ Press the down arrow key once to enter the menu.
■ Scroll to DISPLAY.
■ Press the down arrow key once to go to the default FULL MENUS level.
Access to the whole plotter menu is not available for anyone unauthorized to
use the passwords for SHORT and/or FULL MENUS access.

The SHORT MENUS level allows access only to the MEDIA TYPE, HEAD,
COLOR MODE, CANCEL PLOT, PLOT, FLUSH MEDIA SAVER and DISPLAY
menus (Also #COPIES menu, if REPLOT is on). SHORT MENUS does not allow
access to the CONFIGURATION menu.
This level could be called the system administrator’s access level since it
activates specific menus such as connection setup.
The PLOT TIME-OUT sets the delay (in seconds) after which the plot is
considered finished if the plotter receives no more graphic commands.
■ a list of the current plotter settings (pens, data format, port parameters etc.)
■ the firmware revision level
■ the total memory size (size of RAM installed on the plotter)
■ the codes of the last 10 error or warning messages
The information from the dump configuration print-out will be required by the
Océ technical support service if you have a problem with your plotter.
Note: When using HP-GL Frame Advance command (FR), disable LONG
PLOT.
The Expanded setting enlarges the print area and decreases the margins. When
using this setting, check that you align the media accurately using the guide on
the right of the platen so that the ink doesn’t exceed the edge of the media.

▼ X accuracy or X alignment
1 Make the adjustments following the instructions in Setting the X alignment
value on page 113 and Setting X accuracy on page 113.
2 Set the band align priority according to the type of drawing you wish to print:
If you want to print image type drawings, set priority to X align. If you want to
print CAD type drawings (architectural, engineering) with accurately drawn
vectors, set priority to X accuracy.
3 Press ENTER.
Note: Plotter accuracy is affected by the type of media used. If you use a
different type of media, you need to redo the X ACCURACY setting.
X alignment
This adjustment is used to reduce the white space or overlap which appears
between the horizontal bands printed by the inkjet cartridge. This effect is
visible when plotting area fills. Adjusting the X alignment value improves the
quality of image type drawings.
The value is stored by the plotter but is only taken into account when band
alignment priority is set to X align.
X accuracy
This option is used to ensure that when a 50 cm vector parallel to the X axis is
requested by the host computer, the length drawn on the page is really 50 cm
long. X accuracy is important when printing CAD type drawings.
▼ Adjusting X accuracy
1 Print out the test plot.
The test plot includes a square border.
2 Measure the right side of the plotted square carefully. Note the length.
This is the X value.
3 Calculate the adjustment to make.
If the X value is greater than 500 mm, you will enter a negative value on the
control panel. If the X value is smaller than 500 mm, you will enter a positive
value on the control panel.
For example, if the right side of the square measures 500.5 mm, you need to
enter a value of -5 on the control panel. You can enter values from -25 to +25
in increments of 1.
4 Scroll to X ACCURACY ADJ. Enter the value you calculated. Press ENTER.
The value is stored by the plotter but is only taken into account when band
alignment priority is set to X accuracy.
■ A small buffer allows more free memory for processing a larger number of
vectors.
■ A large buffer allows faster data transfer from the host to free up the host
computer.
Files in the input buffer will be processed and plotted in the same order as they
arrived.
Any plot data in the plotter memory (wait files, input buffer) will be lost when
you switch the plotter off.
Cloud uses a random dot pattern. In this mode you can print with 256 shades
of gray. Cloud is recommended when you are printing drawings with area fills.
Scattered uses a regular, ordered dot pattern. It produces 256 shades of gray.
Scattered is recommended for vector drawings.
Chapter 9
Routine upkeep
117
General cleaning
1 Turn the plotter off and unplug the power cord.
2 Clean the outer surfaces of the plotter with a damp sponge and some household
detergent.
Never use abrasive cleaners, cleaning solvents or strong detergents as these
can damage the surface of the plotter and the moving parts.
3 Open the dust cover and wipe dust and dirt from the platen and carriage rails.
1 2
▼ Procedure
1 Scroll to CLEAN HEAD on the control panel menu.
2 Choose the color of the cartridge head you wish to clean or choose All to clean
all four cartridge heads at once.
3 Press ENTER.
This initiates a head cleaning cycle and the display reads <CLEANING HEAD>.
When the cleaning cycle is finished, the display reads <READY>.
Note: Head cleaning consumes ink. Only carry out the head cleaning
procedure when it is necessary.
1 Move the cartridge carriage out of the purge station using the Cartridge key on
the plotter control panel.
2 Remove the cartridges.
3 Switch the plotter off and unplug the power cable and connection cables.
4 Cover the cartridge carriage with the packing mousse mold delivered with the
plotter.
5 Pack the plotter in its polystyrene wedges and put it in its box.
Chapter 10
Troubleshooting
125
Plotter operation problems
Note: The time taken from data transfer to the plotter from the host computer
to the start of plotter operation varies according to the host computer, software
package, communications protocol, and amount of data to be transferred.
Troubleshooting 127
Message COMM ERROR
Cause The communications link between the plotter controller and the print
engine has been lost.
Solution Turn the plotter off and then on again.
Message COVER ERROR
Cause The dust cover on the plotter has been opened while the plotter is
operating. Since the plotter will not operate with the dust cover open,
this error message is displayed until the dust cover is closed.
Solution Close the dust cover.
Message CUTTER ERROR
Cause The cutter was unable to cut the media.
Solution Remove the media and check that the cutter is correctly installed and
that the cutter blade is not worn down. See page 120 for instructions
on replacing a used cutter.
Message END OF ROLL
Cause The plotter has come to the end of the roll while printing.
Solution Load new media.
Message FRAMING ERROR
Solution Verify the bits per byte ((see page 42), Byte combination)
Try a lower baud rate
Message CARTRIDGE ERROR
Cause The wrong cartridge type has been installed on the plotter; for
example, a black cartridge has been installed in the K/C socket when
the plotter is expecting a cyan cartridge.
Solution Change the cartridge type installed on the plotter. Make sure you only
change cartridge types when the plotter is idle.
Message LOCAL ERROR PLEASE CALL SERVICE
Cause The plotter has encountered an internal error that can only be fixed by
qualified personnel.
Solution Note down the error and call your local Océ Service representative.
Message MEDIA ERROR
Cause The loaded media is too small for the plotter to carry out automatic
quality adjustment (minimum size is A3).
Solution Press the Confirm button, unload the currently installed media and
install size A3 or larger media.
Message MEDIA JAM
Cause The media has jammed.
Troubleshooting 129
Banner messages
Certain error messages are printed out on the media. If the plotter cannot print
out a plot correctly because there is an internal buffer problem, a message is
printed out after the plot to tell you what went wrong. The messages are printed
out differently according to the media mode selected:
Cut sheet mode At the end of the problem plot the display reads <PLOT
PENDING>. Load a new sheet of media. The error message is printed out.
Roll mode The error message is printed out after the cut line which marks the
end of a plot. A second cut line is printed to mark the end of the error message.
Messages
NOT ENOUGH MEMORY FOR RASTERIZATION IN POLYGON BUFFER
INITRASTER ALLOCATION FAILURE ON NORMAL PROCESSING
INITRASTER ALLOCATION FAILURE ON THE FLY MODE
TOO MANY VECTORS : NOT ENOUGH MEMORY
Solutions
If you are using the Centronics port and you are having problems getting large
plot files to print and would like to print out the banner messages, set your PC
to the following mode:
Troubleshooting 131
Poor plot quality solutions
White streaks
Problem unwanted white streaks appear at regular intervals in area fills
Cause these white lines may be caused by a mismatch between adjacent
passes of the cartridge heads
Solution adjust the X alignment value ((see page 112))
Cause blocked nozzles on the print heads
Solution clean the cartridge heads to make sure all the nozzles are
functioning correctly ((see page 122))
Ink smearing
Problem ink is smeared on the media
Cause this is caused by the print head contacting the media usually
because the media wrinkles or bubbles during plotting
Solutions allow absorbent media (paper) time to adjust to the same
environment as the plotter before plotting ((see page 55))
use film media
set the print head height to a higher level ((see page 134)).
Smudging
Problem the printed area is smudged or smeared
Cause components of the inkjet formula can be smeared due to a
reaction with the body oils or perspiration
Solutions allow plots to dry before touching; wear cotton gloves when
handling plots
Troubleshooting 133
Checking cartridge quality
There are three cartridge quality adjustments.
Troubleshooting 135
Adjusting the cartridge angle
Cartridges may differ slightly from batch to batch so that when they are
positioned on the cartridge carriage the angle in relation to the media is not the
same. Since the angle of the cartridge affects how vertical lines are printed, the
Océ 5200 plotter allows you to adjust the cartridge angle for each of the
cartridges installed on the plotter. The adjustment is made on the basis of the
slant test plot.
▼ Procedure checklist
The following list is a summary of the steps to carry out in order to adjust the
cartridge angle. Each step is then described in detail.
The Slant Test plot is printed out as shown in (see figure 44 on page 138).
The slant test plot consists of a group of five vertical lines printed by each of
the cartridges installed on the plotter. If you have installed four color
cartridges, the slant test will have five black lines printed by the black
cartridge, five lines printed by the cyan cartridge and so on.

Troubleshooting 137
s
SLANT TEST
Note: Make sure that at least one of the knobs is set to 1. Trying to move both
knobs to a setting other than 1 could cause damage to the cartridge carriage.
4 Print out the slant test plot again and check the line quality.
321
Note: Each time you open the cartridge open/close knob, the angle adjustment
settings for each cartridge are set back to 1 (neutral). We recommend that,
before installing a new cartridge, you note down the settings for each angle
adjustment knob so that you can reset them after installing the new cartridge.
Troubleshooting 139
Adjusting cartridge registration
When you install a new set of cartridges, the Océ 5200 plotter carries out an
automatic adjustment procedure to make sure that the dots laid down by the
different inkjet cartridges are correctly aligned. You can also carry out a
manual adjustment procedure if you require very high quality reproduction.
3 Press the Enter key. The plotter prints out the manual adjustment plot.
The colors printed on the manual adjustment plot differ according to the colors
of the cartridges installed on the plotter, for example if you have a black, a
cyan, a magenta and a yellow cartridge installed or two black cartridges, one
magenta cartridge and one yellow cartridge.

Troubleshooting 141
Inkjet cartridge and print head
If the print head dries out you may have problems with dropouts on your plots
or the ink may run out prematurely. To prevent this happening, make sure the
cartridge carriage is in the purge station before turning off the plotter. (When
the print head is in the purge station and not in use, the cartridges are capped
to prevent them from drying out).
No color
Problem your plot is printed in black and white
Solutions check that all color cartridges are installed on the plotter
check that Color Mode is set to Full Color before you send your
drawing to the plotter
check that the Pen Priority parameter for the graphic language you are
using is set to Setup ((see page 80)). The problem could be that the
Pen Priority option is set to Language but you have defined your pen
colors on the control panel or in a remote configuration file, or Océ
Plot Director
Wrong colors
Problem Your drawing is printed with the wrong colors
Solutions check the Pen Priority setting ((see page 80)). Do you want to use the
pen colors defined in your software application file or on the plotter
control panel or remote configuration file?
check the definition of colors in your plotter driver if you are using
one
make sure that the cartridges have been installed in the correct
positions on the plotter

You can have one of the following combinations installed on the plotter:
The modules can be ordered from Océ and should be installed by suitably
qualified persons. See page 153 for the order numbers.
The larger the plotter memory, the quicker the data can be processed on the
plotter, and the quicker your computer can be freed for other tasks. The
memory you need depends on the type of drawings you plot.
157
Handshake protocols
Serial protocols
Two types of computer-to-plotter handshaking (and their variants) are
available on the 5200 plotters:
■ Hardwire
■ XON/XOFF
When invoking a handshake protocol manually, the plotter offers you the
following character transmission handshaking selection:
■ CTS2 for hardwire handshaking
XON4: The plotter sends XON when its buffer has enough room to receive
character data. It sends an XOFF character to the computer when its buffer is
almost full, indicating that the computer should stop sending characters.
CTS2 Whenever the plotter’s buffer has enough room to accept characters, it
activates the CTS signal. It then deactivates the signal when its buffer is full.
Centronics protocol
Centronics uses hardwire handshaking. The computer sends a STROBE signal
to move each byte of data into the plotter, at which time the plotter signals
BUSY. When the transfer is complete, the plotter sends ACKNOWLEDGE to
the computer and another cycle can begin.

Maintenance
Power connection
■ Do not move the machine yourself, but contact your Customer Service.
■ If unforeseen circumstances force you to re-install the machine without the
assistance of Océ Service, make sure that the machine is connected to a
power outlet which is equipped with a fuse or circuit breaker with the
appropriate capacity.
■ Do not bridge any mechanical or electrical circuit breakers.
■ Do not use an extension cord to connect the machine.
■ It is recommended to connect only those copy-control products (or other
products) which meet the (inter)national product safety and radio frequency
interference standards, and to use an attachment cable as specified by Océ.
■ This equipment is not designed for connection to an IT power system. (An
IT power system is a voltage network in which the neutral wire is not
connected to earth.)
■ For equipment connected via a wall outlet: place the machine close to an
easily accessible wall outlet.
■ For equipment connected to the electrical system via a permanent
connection: make sure that the disconnect device in the permanent
connection is easily accessible.

The EPA ENERGY STAR®® Criteria for copiers have the following features:
auto-off The use of the auto-off feature offers economic and environmental
benefits. The copier is shipped with the auto-off default time set to ✖ minutes,
which means that the copier automatically switches itself off ✖ minutes after
the last copy is made1. The auto-off default time can be adjusted by the key
operator to between ✖ and ✖ minutes. We recommend that you determine the
appropriate default time for your work pattern by changing the setting in
increments of ✖ minutes and testing each setting for at least a week. Only if an
auto-off default time of ✖ minutes still causes you considerable inconvenience,
due to your particular usage pattern, should you request the Océ service
technician to disable the auto-off feature.
automatic duplex mode Using both sides of paper reduces paper costs,
national energy consumption and the amount of paper in the waste disposal
process. You are encouraged to duplex (make double-sided copies) as often as
feasible or to choose double-sided copying as the default setting.
