Description

• What do you see in the artwork?

- In the artwork, I can see that there is an expressive

night sky with a small village
below, hills at the right, and a large curvy tree at the left portion.
• Describe each of the things seen in the artwork.

- There is an expressive night sky designed with blue swirls, a glowing

yellow crescent moon, and radiating stars. Straight controlled lines
make up the small cottages of the village below. The village, together with
the hills, are peaceful in comparison to the dramatic night sky. The curvy tree is
painted the same way as the night sky with curves and lines, which means that they
are in sync.

- All elements of arts The artist used a large concentration of lines in the artwork, especially in the
sky. These lines were also used to add outlines for the hills and the houses, and the tree. The
artist also used spaces for the stars, crescent moon, and for the rest of the blue swirls. The
objects in the sky were in vertical placement. Value and color were also added to manipulate
the feelings and emotions of the artwork through the colors.

and rhythm, balance, contrast, scale and proportion or emphasis, and subordination?

night. Emphasis and subordination is also used in the night sky. At first glance, the night sky is
already emphasized in the general picture.

Interpretation

- I think that the Starry Night is absolutely seen as having a great emotional depth. I think that his
artwork implies loneliness or achieving peace as we look through the quietness of his artwork.
From the village to the night sky, we can feel that he also implies loneliness in this vast world.
However, in the midst of the loneliness, with shining stars filling the sky there is
always light to guide you which also depicts hope.
- • Is the title "Starry Night" appropriate to the image? Why?
- Yes, I think that the title is appropriate to the image because starry means full of or lit by stars.
And the artist used the best title for his artwork because we can see that there are several stars
radiating in the night sky with a crescent moon.
