General Instructions:

1. This question paper contains two parts A and B.


2. Both Part A and Part B have internal choices.
Part - A:
1. It contains two sections - I and II.
2. Section I has 16 questions of 1 mark each. Internal choice is provided in 5 questions.
3. Section II has 4 questions on case study. Each case study has 5 case-based sub-parts. An
examinee is to attempt any 4 out of 5 sub-parts.
Part - B
1. It contains three sections – III, IV and V.
2. Section III : Question No. 21 to 26 are Very short answer Type questions of 2 marks
each.
3. Section IV : Question No. 27 to 33 are Short Answer Type questions of 3 marks each.
4. Section V : Question No. 34 to 36 are Long Answer Type questions of 5 marks each.
5. Internal choice is provided in 2 questions of 2 marks, 2 questions of 3 marks and 1
question of 5 marks.

Section – I

Section I has 16 questions of 1 mark each. Internal choice is provided in 5 questions.

1. If the HCF of 35 and 45 is 5 and LCM of 35 and 45 is 63 × a, then find the value of a.

What is the LCM of the smallest prime number and the smallest composite number?

2. If 2 is a root of the equation ax 2 − bx + 2 = 0, then find the relation between a and b.

3. Check whether the pair of equations x + 3y + 5 = 0 and − 3x − 9y + 2 = 0 has


solution or not.

4. The coach of a cricket team buys 3 bats and 6 balls for Rs 3900. Later, she buys another
bat and 4 more balls of the same kind for Rs 1300. Represent the problem of finding the
cost of one bat and one ball by forming linear equations.
5. Find the 21st term of an A.P. whose first two terms are −3 and 4?

In the given figure below, AOB is a diameter of a circle with centre O and AC is a
tangent to the circle at A. If ∠BOC = 130°, find ∠ACO.

10. If the distance between the points (x, −1) and (3, 2) is 5 units, find the values of x.

11. In the figure, ∠BAX = ∠ABY.

and formed into a solid sphere. Calculate the radius of the sphere.

16. If a number is chosen at random from the numbers 1 to 100, find the probability of
getting a perfect cube number.

OR

The king, queen and jack of clubs are removed from a deck of 52 playing cards and the
remaining cards are shuffled. A card is drawn at random from the remaining cards. Find
the probability of getting a card of queen.

Section – II

There are four Case study-based questions which are compulsory. Each Case Study
based question has five sub parts out of which any four sub-parts are to be
attempted. Each sub part carries 1 mark.

17. Case study based – 1

Ramkishan is a landlord. He borrowed some amount of money from the bank as an


agriculture loan. For the production of paddy, he spent Rs 2800x on fertilizers and
pesticides, Rs 400x 2 on wages and cultivation and Rs 4800 on seeds, where the length
of the square land used for the cultivation of paddy is x metres.
Also, for the production of cotton, he spent Rs 3300t on fertilizers and pesticides, Rs
300t 2 on wages and cultivation and Rs 9000 on seeds, where the length of the square
land used in this purpose is t metres. Let, p(x) be the total expense (in rupees) on paddy
and q(t) be the total expense (in rupees) in cotton.
(a) p(x), in rupees, is equal to
(i) 200x 2 + 4000x + 2800x
(ii) 400x 2 − 2800x + 200
(iii) 400x 2 + 2800x + 4800

18. Case study based – 2


Piggy bank (sometimes penny bank or money box) is the traditional name of a coin
container. The piggy bank is known to collectors as a "still bank" as opposed to the
"mechanical banks" popular in the early 20th century. These items are also often used
by companies for promotional purposes. The earliest known pig-shaped money
containers date to the 12th century on the island of Java.
A piggy bank contains hundred 50 p coins, fifty ₹ 1 coins,
twenty ₹ 2 coins and ten ₹ 5 coins. Each coin is equally likely
to fall down when the bank is turned upside down.
Suppose the piggy bank is turned upside down and one coin
falls down.

20. Case study based – 4


In the figures given below, we can see an alpine tent. People who go for trekking in the
hilly areas use these tents as the snow does not settle on these tents. These tents are also
easy to lay out. The shape of an alpine tent consists of two triangular and three
rectangular surfaces. The lay out is represented diagrammatically on a graph paper in
the 2nd figure. Study the 2nd figure carefully and answer the following questions.

obtained. Rina throws a die and squares the number obtained. Who has the better
chance of obtaining the number 25?

Section - V

All questions are compulsory. In case of internal choices, attempt any one. Each of the
following questions (Q. No. 34 – Q. No. 36) carries 5 marks.

34. There is a tower on a playground and a flagstaff fixed at the top of the tower. The angle
of elevation of the top of the tower is found to be 45° from a point A on the ground
which is at a distance of 120 m from the foot of the tower. The angle of elevation of the
top of a flagstaff from A is observed to be 60°.
(i) Find the height of the tower.
(ii) Find the height of the flagstaff. [use √3 = 1.732]

OR

The angles of depression of the top and the bottom of a 12 m tall building, from the top
of a tower are observed as 30° and 60° respectively.
(i) Find the height of the tower.
(ii) Find the distance between the tower and the building. [use √3 = 1.732]
35. A toy is in the form of a right circular cylinder with a hemisphere on one end and a
cone on the other. The height and radius of the base of the cylindrical part are 15 cm
and 7 cm respectively. The height of the conical part is 13 cm. The hemispherical part
and the base of the conical part have the same radii as that of the cylinder. Calculate the

36. The area of a rectangle gets reduced by 9 square cm if its length is reduced by 5 cm and
breadth is increased by 3 cm. If we increase the length by 3 cm and breadth by 2 cm,
the area increases by 67 square cm. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.
