Council Minutes
June 14, 2010 – 7:00, PM
Council members and staff present – Jeffery Berger, Andrew Mook, Curtis Michael, Jillian Perry, James Savage,
Mayor Walter Reed, Ryan Tira, Dale Cahn, and Dolores Moyer
The regular meeting of the Hughesville Borough Council was called to order by Council President Jeffery Berger
followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Guests and Visitors: Shawna Turner (Sun-Gazette), Susan Spinelli, Mike/Sheila Palmeter
Approve Agenda: June 14, 2010, Michael moved, seconded by Mook. Motion passed.
Approve Minutes: May 10, 2010, Michael moved, seconded by Savage. Motion passed.
Solicitor’s Report: Ryan Tira, information will be discussed in closed session pertaining to personnel.
Mayor’s Report: Walter Reed said he may have comments later in the meeting.
Emergency Management Report: Will get a list of vacancies from Dave Bressler
Borough Secretary: Dee Moyer – General Code update will cost in the vicinity of $4,100-$5,200 to re-codify
ordinance and zoning updates. Borough hasn’t done an update since 2005; with the additional zoning updates it will
take a substantial amount of work. Savage moved to accept, seconded by Michael. Motion passed.
A proposal to maintain continuous updates and link our websites was tabled for now in the amount of $1,195 annually.
Business:
COG Bids – no street resurfacing will take place this year
County Liquid Fuels Grant application approval, Perry moved, seconded by Savage
Seismograph survey approval with modifications by Borough Solicitor, Mook moved, seconded by
Perry. Motion passed.
Lycoming County Regional Solid Waste Kickoff information
Permit for fireworks, Lycoming Fair Association, Michael moved, seconded by Perry. Motion passed.
FYI – Lycoming/Sullivan Boroughs Association – emailed to council previously has been cancelled.
River Valley Transit Report – request copy
Resolution 2 of 2010 Lycoming County Tax Collection Committee – appoint delegate. Jeff Berger was
nominated by Michaels, seconded by Mook. Motion passed.
Curtis Michael was nominated as alternate by Savage, seconded by Perry. Motion passed.
EMA News & Views – request a copy
CareerLink is offering summer employment program for you; Council said it would be impossible for us
to offer 20 -30 weekly to an individual(s).
