What Is BIDMAS?: Bodmas Stands For Brackets, Orders, Division/Multiplication, Addition/Subtraction

The document discusses the BODMAS and BIDMAS rules for order of operations in mathematics. BODMAS is an acronym that stands for Brackets, Orders, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction and describes the order that mathematical operations should be performed. BIDMAS is an alternative acronym that is sometimes used, where the I stands for Indices instead of Orders. Both BODMAS and BIDMAS indicate that brackets should be solved first, followed by orders/indices, then division and multiplication from left to right, and finally addition and subtraction from left to right. Following the correct order of operations is important to get the right solution.

6What is BODMAS RULE?

The BODMAS rule is an acronym to help remember the order of

mathematical operations – the correct order in which to solve maths
problems.

Bodmas stands for Brackets, Orders, Division/Multiplication,

Addition/Subtraction.
Mathematical Operations

“Mathematical operations” are what you do to the numbers given.

The four main operations are:

What is BODMAS?

What is BIDMAS?
The BIDMAS rule is an alternative acronym to BODMAS to help
remember the order of operations. The only difference is that
there’s an I instead of O. The meaning is the same. Bidmas is the
term more commonly used in primary schools today.

Bidmas stands for Brackets, Indices, Division/Multiplication,

Addition/Subtraction.
BODMAS is an acronym and it stands for Bracket, Order,
Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction.

In certain regions, PEMDAS (Parentheses, Exponents,

Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction) is used,
which is the synonym of BODMAS.

It explains the order of operations to be performed while solving

an expression.

According to BODMAS rule, if an expression contains brackets

((), {}, []) we have first to solve or simplify the bracket followed by
‘order’ (that means powers and roots, etc.), then division,
multiplication, addition and subtraction from left to right.

Solving the problem in the wrong order will result in a wrong

answer.

Note: The “O” in the BODMAS full form is also called “Order”,

which refers to the numbers which involve powers, square roots,
etc.

Conditions and Rules

A few conditions and rules for general simplification are given
