Xii Maths Internal Assessment Activity

This document provides details of an internal assessment activity for Class XII Mathematics students. It includes two sections - Section A provides three activity questions to choose from, focusing on graphing functions and identifying function types. Section B includes five viva questions testing concepts of functions, relations, continuity, and extrema. Students are asked to write their details, choose one activity from Section A, and answer the viva questions in Section B.

SUBJECT : MATHEMATICS INTERNAL ASSESSMENT - TERM 1

SECTION ─ A

Answer any one of the following activity questions (3 marks).

1. Sketch the graphs of the functions on 𝑦 = 2 and 𝑦 = 𝑙𝑜𝑔 𝑥 on the graph sheet and

demonstrate that they are mirror images in the line 𝑦 = 𝑥.

2. Demonstrate the activity “Amongst all rectangles of given perimeter (32cm.) square has

the maximum area”.

3. Consider the eight sets A = {-2,-1,0,1,2}, B = {0,1,4}, C = {2,3,5,7},

D = {5,10,17,26,37,50}, E = {1,2,3,4,5}, F = {3,5,7,9,11}

G = {-3,-1,0,1,2,3}, H = {-1,0,2,3,5,8,11}

Define the following functions.

f : A→ B as f(x) = 𝑥 ; g : C→D as g(x) = 𝑥 + 1; h : E→F as h(x) = 2x + 1

and k : G → H as k(x) = 𝑥 - 1.Write above all functions as roster form and identify

the types of functions (one to one, onto or bijective ) using arrow diagrams.

Demonstrate this activity with reasons.

1. Let A and B be two sets such that n(A) = m and n(B) = n. A function f is defined from

A to B which is given to be one to one. State under what condition on m and n, the

function will be bijective.

(a) m < n (b) m = n (c) m > n (d) m ≠ n

2. A relation R is defined in the set of all lines S in a plane given by

R = {(L, M) : L is perpendicular to M, where L,M € S }.Then the relation R is

(a) equivalence relation (b) reflexive and transitive

(c) symmetric only (d) symmetric and transitive

3. The function 𝑓(𝑥) = is a continuous function
2𝑥 − 3 𝑖𝑓 𝑥 > 2

(a) at x = 2 only (b) for all real values of x. (c) for all real values of x except 2

(d) for integral values of x only.

, 𝑖𝑓 𝑥 ≠ −6
4. The function 𝑓 (𝑥 ) = is continuous at 𝑥 = −6.Then
𝑘 , 𝑖𝑓 𝑥 = −6

the value of k is (a) 12 (b) −12 (c) k € R – {-12} (d) k € R – {-6}

5. The function 𝑓 (𝑥 ) = 9 𝑥 + 12𝑥 + 9 has
