1.4 Solved Problems

The document defines fluid properties and terms with SI units, including mass density, kinematic viscosity, capillarity, compressibility, absolute viscosity, bulk modulus, and dynamic viscosity. It also defines density, weight density, specific volume, and specific gravity. The document explains the phenomenon of capillarity and derives an expression for capillary rise. It states that viscosity varies with temperature and provides reasons. Finally, it provides example problems to calculate torque, power, viscosity, velocity gradient, shear stress, and specific weight given fluid properties and system parameters.
