Course Description
Fundamentals of engine operation, diagnosis and repair. Emphasis on identification, inspection, measurements, and disassembly, repair, and
reassembly of the engine. May be taught manufacturer specific.
This course teaches engine tear down, failure analysis, cylinder head repair/major overhaul, and precision measurement instruments on heavy duty
equipment. This course also includes fundamentals of engine design including study of cylinder head and block, lubrication, air intake, exhaust,
electrical, cooling, and fuel systems. Major tear down and measuring are included with major repair, tune up and testing.

Note: Practical Assessment will depend based on the quarantine restrictions imposed by inter-agency task force against COVID-19 (IATF)
III. Policies
1. There shall be a weekly synchronous meeting.
2. If a student cannot attend the synchronous meeting, he/she must email the professor explaining the absence.Only those with valid reason
(e.g. illness or death of an immediate family member) shall be excused.
3. Weekly assessment tasks shall be given by the professor. This shall serve as the asynchronous activities of the class.
4. All assessment tasks shall be given a duration of at least a week before submission.
5. If a student cannot submit his/her work on time, he/she must email the profession explaining the reason for non-compliance. Only those with
valid reason (e.g. illness or death of an immediate family member) shall be excused.
6. Students are expected to regularly check the LMS for the class for official communications coming from the professor.
7. If a student has a special concern, it is advisable that he/she email the professor.
