This unit is about the music of the 20 th century which demonstrates deeper understanding about the invention of
the gramophone records. The mass market of thus invention made musical compositions available to many. Prior to this
period, during the 19 th century, only the elite or the rich could l isten to live classical music concerts in theatres.
These activities are designed to understand the 20 th century music styles and characteristics features and create

WEEK 1 (FIRM-UP)
Your goal in this section is to learn and identify the concept and
principles on the production, preparation and storing baked and pastry
product. Are you ready? Be
guided by the essential questions:
1. What are the different classifications of cake?
2. What are the different decorating tools?
3. What is the difference between icing and frosting?
4. What is the importance of mixing techniques?
5. How to analyze and tell the causes of failure of cakes?
Other than the general mixing methods used for cakes, there are several mixing techniques
used by seasoned bakers. These techniques are used every step of the way; that is, from
measuring down to baking. The purpose of proper mixing is to blend the ingredients well.
In the next activity you will learn some techniques.
Baking cakes seems to be easy when you’re only making the usual plain, round or
rectangular shaped cakes. But make it too complicated and you could end up with some
serious cake fails. Baking is a skill that needs creativity and finesse to be able to achieve
