Learning Goals:

1. Formulate/conceptualize ideas from the picture presented.

2. Deduce the recurring theme from the selection read.

3. Show teamwork and cooperation through different group activities.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


Topic: “I Shall Have Other Birthdays” by: Ceferino Joven
References: internet
Materials: Laptop, DLP, balloons, puzzle, replica of cake, cartolina, pentel pen
and manila paper

III. PROCEDURES:
A. Daily Routine

3. Checking of Attendance
4. Review of previous topic (Elements of Short Story)

ACTIVITY:

1. Priming: 4 PICS 1 WORD!!!

The teacher will give each group pieces of jigsaw puzzle, and then
the students will arrange it to form an image.
Ask them the following questions:

1. What images have you formed out of the jigsaw puzzle pieces?

2. Where do we usually see them?

3. When was your memorable birthday?

B. Activity: Pop my Balloons!!!


Unlocking of Difficulties
The teacher will present a set of balloons which contain
words. Students will be called to pop each one at a time and match
it to its meaning based on the context clues.

- a person who lends money at unreasonably high rates of


interest.
Debt
- An amount of money that you owe to a person, bank,
company etc.
Loan
An amount of money that is given to someone for a period of
time with a promise that it will be paid back.

4. Was Pangoy right in keeping the money to buy Emilio’s shirt
instead of paying her debt? Why?
5. What did Emilio do when he heard of his mother’s debt?
