[1] 50 computer science and IT students along with 2 faculty members toured TCS' 54-acre campus. [2] The visit included talks on current technology trends at TCS and in the IT industry, as well as an interactive session on how students can develop skills for campus recruitment. [3] Students were also assigned team projects on use cases and given responsibilities to work on with progress meetings scheduled.

    Mihan, Nagpur

    10th February 2020


    REPORT
    Industrial Visit of Students at TCS, Mihan, Nagpur
    10th February 2020
    TCS, Nagpur has extended their gratitude & accepted our request for a One Day Industrial Visit of
    50 CSE/IT Students to their esteemed organization on 10th February 2020.

    The following faculties from respective departments participated in the visit:-

    1. Prof. Bireshwar Ganguly - Training & Placement Officer


    2. Prof. Rajeshwar Balla – Assistant Professor, Dept of CSE

    The team RCERT reached early and completed the Visitors Formalities & Security Checks at the
    entrance of the TCS Office, Mihan. It’s a great ambience with a sprawling green campus of 54 Acres
    with all modern amenities, state of art architecture & lavish interiors.

    The team was humbly received by the HR Manager Mr. Sachin Asatkar and were guided to the
    multipurpose hall/auditorium of the Admin Block.

    The visit was organized with the Agenda:


    1. Talk on “Trends and Technologies at TCS and Trends in the IT Industry in general.
    2. Interactive Session on TCS expectation from students & competency development for
    Campus Selection.

    The visit commenced with Welcome note by Mr. Arvind Kumar, Center Head, TCS, Nagpur. He
    greeted & welcomed all the faculties & students with a humble smile.

    1. The 1st session started with self introduction of all the faculties followed by the introduction
    of the Centre Head Mr. Arvind Kumar. He mentioned about the Vision & Mission of TCS and
    why this organization is the Dream Company for all aspiring job seekers. He then mentioned
    that the current head count of employees at TCS Nagpur is 5000 and how they are planning
    to expand it to 10,000 in coming few years. He addressed the gathering on current trends &
    technologies at TCS & other IT Industries.
    He then explained about the current working domains of TCS:
    i. Product Development, Designing & Maintenance Programmers
    ii. Quality Assurance Testing Engineers
    iii. IT Infrastructure Support
    iv. Cloud Computing & IoT
    v. Networking Support
    vi. ERP
    The session concluded with an interaction & Q&A were the students asked about the
    National Qualifier Test (NQT) of TCS. Mr. Arvind Kumar mentioned about the revolutionary
    change in the recruitment Process of TCS from last year which democratized the whole
    process where only 500 colleges used to participate initially but last year around 1800
    colleges were able to participate in the process. NQT enabled the talent pool across the
    country were given the same platform to showcase their skill & be a part of this dream
    company.
    2. Lunch Break from 2:00 to 2:30 PM
    3. The 2nd session was conducted by Mr. Pranay Chavhan on Internet of Things (IoT). He
    explained all the basics of the Technology. He explained how TCS is working on this
    technology and what projects are upcoming in the near future. He also explained the future
    career opportunities in the domain & why youngsters should excel in this domain for a
    bright future.
    4. The 3rd Session was conducted by Mr. Manoj Goel on IT Infrastructure & Support (IT IS). He
    explained about how IT IS is the backbone of all the front end applications in the modern
    technology. He explained about IT IS works and what are its applications & support system.
    5. The final session was conducted by team of IT IS Mentors with the students of Use Case
    Group Projects assigned by TCS. The Team of Mr. Manoj Goel, Mr. Swapnil Chide, Mr. Tushar
    & Mr. Naveen Mishra interacted with every student group individually, assigned Team Leads
    of every group & discussing in details about each and every use cases with their requisite,
    working and expected outcome. They also assigned them the responsibilities of first task &
    asked to initially gather as much knowledge as possible from the resources available. They
    have also asked for a progress meeting after 10 days through VC Mode and update the
    progress through College Mentors.
    6. The Team was then taken for a Campus Visit of TCS, were various upcoming projects,
    assignments, new architecture, gymnasium, food court, EB Blocks, BPS Center was exhibited
    and explained personally by Mr. Sachin Asatkar. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks
    from Mr. Sachin Asatkar followed by photo session.
    7. Dr. Z. J. Khan sir, Principal, RCERT Chandrapur congratulated the Dept. of successful
    organization of the Industrial tour.
