1. This document summarizes information about a novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) that emerged in Wuhan, China in December 2019. It discusses how the virus spreads through respiratory droplets, its symptoms like fever and cough, and prevention methods like hand washing.
2. The virus can be transmitted between animals and humans and between humans via coughs, sneezes or touching contaminated surfaces. Its symptoms range from mild to severe pneumonia.
3. Prevention focuses on hygiene like hand washing and avoiding contact with infected individuals, while treatment consists of rest, hydration and over-the-counter fever/sore throat medications. A vaccine is still in development.

2019 – NCov Awareness
December 2019 emerge in Wuhan China. Some of the first people with 2019 NCov had links to an animal and seafood market. Animals transmit the virus to human, then human pass the virus to each other 26 Countries affected so far 17, 205 Across China affected 361 Death – across China and one in Philippines 1. IDENTIFICATION Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses found in both animals and humans. Some infect people and are known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Can infect both animals A novel coronavirus (CoV) is a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans. The new, or “novel” coronavirus, now called 2019-nCoV, had not previously detected before the outbreak was reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Type of virus that typically affect the respiratory tract of mammals, including humans, associated with common cold, pneumonia, and severe acute respiratory syndrome - Crown like projections on their surfaces - Mutating abilities make it so contagious 2. TRANSMISSION HOW DOES THIS VIRUS SPREAD? The new coronavirus is a respiratory virus which spreads primarily through contact with an infected person through respiratory droplets generated when a person, for example, coughs or sneezes, or through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose. It is important that everyone practice good respiratory hygiene. For example, sneeze or cough into a flexed elbow, or use a tissue and discard it immediately into a closed bin. It is also very important for people to wash their hands regularly with either alcohol- based hand rub or soap and water. It takeS 2-14 days for a person to notice symptoms after infection
7 Types of Corona Virus
1. 229E (alpha corona virus) 2. NL63 (alpha corona virus) 3. OC43 (beta corona virus) 4. HKU1 (beta corona virus) 5. MERS-Cov 6. SARS 7. Novel N-Cov Virus transmit from infected person using secreted fluid from the respiratory system 1. Coughing and sneezing without covering the mouth can disperse droplets into the air, spreading the virus 2. Touching or shaking hands with a person that has the virus can pass the virus from one person to another 3. Making contact with a surface or object that hat the virus and then touching your nose, eyes, or mouth 3. SYMPTOMS 1. Runny nose 2. coughing 3. sore throat 4. Fever 5. sneezing 6. fatigue 7. exacerbated asthma Pneumonia – a severe lung infection If infection spread to the lower respiratory tract, wind pipe and lungs, it can cause pneumonia, especially in older people, people with heart disease, and people with weakened immune system 4. PREVENTION 1. Washing your hand thoroughly with soap and warm water or with alcohol base hand sanitizer 2. Keep your hands and finger away from your eyes, nose, and mouth 3. Avoid close contact with people who are infected 5. TREATMENT 1. Get plenty of rest 2. Drink enough water 3. Take medicine for sore throat and fever 4. Boost your immune system No vaccine available Scientists in China and Australia have replicated the virus. This could allow for early detection and treatment in people who have the virus but are not showing symptoms How to boost immune system 1. Do not smoke 2. Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables 3. Exercise regularly 4. Maintain a healthy weight 5. If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation 6. Get adequate sleep 7. Try to minimize stress
