G B C ® A d v a n c e d P u n c h ™ Pr o
The GBC® AdvancedPunch™ Pro is an inline die punch that uses modular die sets to create various
hole punch patterns in a range of papers sizes, from A4 or 8.5 x 11 in. (LEF) to 12 x 18 in. or SRA3
media, to support offline binding. The GBC® AdvancedPunch™ Pro supports all print servers. The GBC®
AdvancedPunch™ Pro requires an Interface Decurler Module, and a High Capacity Stacker, Production
Ready Finisher, Production Ready Booklet Maker Finisher, or Production Ready Finisher Plus and extra
third-party device.
GBC® AdvancedPunch™ Pro • GBC® AdvancedPunch™ Pro punched sheets cannot be punched,
Limitations stapled, folded, or converted into a booklet in a PR Finisher.
• Hole punch position from edge of paper is user adjustable using the
AdvancedPunch Pro LCD User Interface.
• The double punch feature is centered on 11 x 17 in.stocks only. Other
sizes such as A3, 12 x 18 in., and so on, cannot be centered. For
adjustment of punch, refer to the GBC® AdvancedPunch™ Pro
Operation Instructions Manual.
• Opening the door of the GBC® AdvancedPunch™ Pro while the printer
is running causes the printer to jam and shut down.
• Gloss coated media cannot run as reliably as an uncoated paper.
Typically, coated papers and high area coverage exhibit increased
variability in paper handling due to lower coefficients of friction,
resulting in a broader distribution of punch registration and elevated
jam rates.
• Stacking can be misaligned on jobs that contain tab stock. These
jobs require more jogging before final finishing.
• Due to the nature of punching holes, each punched sheet is
deformed slightly, and when stacked, the edge with the holes have
an increased height compared to the non-punched edge.
– Reduced stack quality is experienced due to variability in the
punch hole formation.
– When sending output to the stack tray of the High Capacity
Stacker, if this stack height difference exceeds one inch, the
printer shuts down and alert the operator to unload the stacker
tray. This is done to prevent a jam and results in a reduction of
stack capacity that depends on the die that is used.
Punch Dies The GBC® AdvancedPunch™ Pro is capable of punching various hole-
punch patterns by simply changing the punch die. Punch dies can be
changed in seconds without tools. The following are the punch dies
listed that is currently available. Each die set has a 90-day warranty
from date of purchase. Punch dies are ordered using the Supplies
ordering process.
Punch die life can be maximized if lightly oiled every 100 K punch cycles
approximately every two months with light printer oil such as 3-in-1 Oil.
Small deposits of oil are observed around the perimeter of the punched
holes until the excess oil is absorbed usually within 20 sheets.
H i g h Ca p a c i t y S ta c ke r ( H C S )
The HCS is designed for long production runs.
• Up to 5000 sheets offsetting output stack tray with a movable cart to move to offline finishing.
• 500 sheet top tray.
• Sample Prints are extra prints directed to the top tray for inspection. Redirecting sheets from the
Stack to the Top Tray does not produce samples. Therefore, the contents in the Stack Tray are
complete.
HCS Limitations • The HCS is subject to stack weight limitations, and settings have been
implemented to prevent damage to the unit caused by an excessively heavy
stack. Refer to this chart for approximate stack sizes for sheets larger than A4,
8.5 x 11 in.
• Stack quality degrades and jams increase with 64–106 g/m2 coated paper
stocks.
• Mixed stock sizes can be sent to the HCS. However, the HCS generally should
be unloaded between jobs that utilize different stock sizes to prevent stack
quality problems such as paper misalignment or stack integrity.

Crease
Directions
• Lightweight stocks can jam when creasing is within 62 mm of the leading edge.
• Creasing of mixed media booklets, for example, heavier weight cover stock vs. body of booklet, is
not possible currently.
• Setting 2-sided trim at the minimum 6 mm shows damage on the trimmed edge. This can be
avoided by applying trimming at 7 mm or more.
• Creasing on booklets reduces toner cracking at folds. However, the effectiveness depends on
media characteristics (stiffness, grain, and so on).
• Creasing on booklets is applied to the first and the last sheets of the booklet.
• Booklets finished with a squared spine do not require creasing, and the application of creasing
degrades the spine quality.
• For custom creases, the productivity depends on the number of creases applied (For example, 1
crease is faster than 2 creases, and so on).
• Creasing Margins:
– Leading edge: Must be at least 45 mm from the leading edge of the sheet. Creasing 45–62
mm from the leading edge causes a paper jam.
– Trailing edge: Must be at least 12 mm from the trailing edge of the sheet.
• When creasing and trimming the same sheet, the maximum number of creases reduces to 3 if the
length of the paper is shorter than 279 mm or longer than 450 mm.
• The creasing function cannot be applied to C-Fold and Z-fold produced from the C/Z Folder option.

The Xerox Tape Binder creates bound books inline using a thermal adhesive tape to bind pages
securely. It gives documents such as reports, proposals, and manuals a professional appearance and a
strong, flexible bind. The finished documents hold up to repeated use without cracking or pulling
apart. The Tape Binder binds 8.5 x 11 in. or A4 documents of up to 125 pages 75 g/m2, 250 images in
2-sided mode. The Tape Binder uses Xerox Tape Binder Strips which come in black, white, and dark
blue. A single thermal adhesive strip produces durable tape binding without the need for stapling or
stitching. The Tape Binder tray is capable of stacking finished books with a combined total of up to
1500 sheets at 80 g/m2 sheets. The Xerox Tape Binder has bypass capability to allow other inline
finishing devices to be connected downstream and also supports tabs and oversize covers.

*The Maximum Duty Cycle (up to 3 million pages per month) refers to the maximum monthly print volume
supported under standard vendor supplied service and defines the upper end of the expected print volume for
the machine.
**The maximum AMPV is not intended to be sustainable month over month, and is meant to define the
maximum machine capability for periods of peak use. This maximum AMPV can be achieved occasionally for
peak printing times. Customers consider higher volume machines or multiple machines if average monthly
print volume reaches or exceeds the maximum on a consistent basis.
This product is designed to operate within the specified AMPV of 70,000–700,000 pages per month.
Customers who consistently run volumes above the maximum stated Average Monthly Print Volume
of 700,000 pages experiences impact on machine reliability and performance.
The number of prints between service calls are dependent upon the following factors:
• Monthly output volume
• Throughput materials (paper)
• Environment (heat, humidity, and ventilation)
• High toner density and area coverage
• Image quality requirements
Image Quality
Image quality perception is subjective and ambient lighting conditions are affected.
• Like other reproduction processes, there is some variation of output quality over time. For
example: long runs, with high area coverage. Factors contributing to this can include frequency of
service and xerographic components.
• Paper surface structure, texture, and color strongly influence image quality. To ensure that your
customers are satisfied optimally, key applications are printed using representative paper and
reviewed by the customer.
• The surface texture of some uncoated papers causes increased graininess in halftone areas
printed with toner. Use smooth or coated papers to minimize the effect. Refer to the
Recommended Materials List.
• Sheets of a job exhibit slight gloss differential and oil streaks from page to page. Operational
mode has an impact on the level of gloss differential.
• Print exhibits random white spots caused by paper dust, stray developer beads, or other
miscellaneous particles. You can reduce the occurrence of white spots by using Xerox® approved
paper. If customers are cutting their own paper, ensure that cut edges are dust free, and keep the
printer in a clean and dust or dirt reduced environment. Failure to do this results in increased
frequency of white spots.
• As with any printing process, artifacts occur. These include streaks, mottle, banding, spots, and so
on. For most jobs and clients, the expected level of artifacts is within the normal operational and
component quality ranges of the system and does not affect the acceptability of the job.
Maintenance procedures are available to mitigate these artifacts. Random artifacts occur.
Artifact-sensitive jobs is monitored. Using products on the recommended by your Xerox® Supplies
Specialist and maintaining your environment helps to minimize the occurrence of these artifacts.
• Environmental factors such as high or low humidity effects image quality. For more information,
refer to Environmental Requirements.
Product Limitations
Impact to productivity depends on the specific attributes of each job.
• When you print many one page jobs in a row, a fault occurs requiring a full system restart.
• Job types and job settings affect the maximum rated print speed. Printer cycling down or cycle up
within or between jobs, and finishing options that are selected for a particular job affects the
productivity.
• Overall productivity can decline due to the printer that pauses to make adjustments to maintain
consistent image quality. More frequent image quality adjustments and more severe productivity
loss is seen for the following job types: Low area coverage jobs which are 3% area coverage or
lower and mixed media jobs.
• If utilizing the Offset Catch Tray (OCT), overall productivity declines if offsetting mode is selected.
The print engine pauses printing to offset between sets and then resume printing. Productivity
loss depends on the number of sheets per set with single-page jobs that represent the worst case
which is approximately 50% productivity loss.
• In certain conditions, such as high temperature, heavy media, or high area coverage, printed
sheets can stick to each other. In these situations, the operator selects the Ink Setoff Prevention
setting to Always On. This slightly increases the gap between pages as they are printed, allowing
them more time to cool down. Print speed is reduced slightly as a result. Note that this condition is
more likely when printing to the OCT or Production Ready Finisher.
• When the printer is powered on and when exiting power save mode, the operator confirms the
Tabs or Ordered or Sequenced stock. This is done by opening the paper tray, verifying that the first
tab or sheet in the series is on top, and then closing the paper tray.
• When printing a 2-sided job that utilizes Tabs, overall productivity declines because the printer
switches between 1-sided mode (for Tabs) and 2-sided mode (for body sheets). The severity of
productivity loss depends on the number of Tabs in the job — more Tabs results in greater loss of
productivity.
• If the operator changes the Auto Tray Switching from the default Near Empty to Empty, the print
engine pauses to switch the new tray.
• If the customer network is using a 100.100.100.x IP address series, conflicts occur.
• Auto Supplies Replenishment does not function through XDA clients, only direct connect enables
ASR.
• Stopping or cancelling a job that is utilizing a third-party DFA connected finisher while printing
can cause some booklets to be incomplete and the user cannot be notified of the situation.
• Third party devices connected through the Foreign Interface Device (FID) causes delays between
print jobs.
Media Limitations:
While the system clears its own paper path automatically, as much as possible, the operator manually
resets the ordered stock. The optional print server for this copier/printer is capable of Tab Recovery in
the event of a jam using tab media. For ordered stock such as multi-part forms, this copier/printer
does not automatically recover from jams. For specialized applications, contact the appropriate
Xerox® representative for media, data, and workflow information.
Custom media with cut-outs does not work with this copier/printer depending on the location of the
cut-outs. The cut-outs can interfere with sensors in the paper path.
Before you commit to the application, check the custom media with this product to ensure
compatibility.
This copier/printer cannot feed media with 6 x 1 in. die cut holes in the center of the page.
Recommended Supplies
The consumable supplies designed for this copier/printer are engineered specifically for use in this
product and provide the highest and most consistent image quality, maximum productivity, and up
time. These consumable supplies are designed with several replaceable units, which are replaced as
needed by Xerox® Customer Service Engineers for ERUs and by customers for CRUs.
Refer to the product documentation or www.xerox.com for part numbers for this copier/printer.
Note: All yield estimates are based on 6% area coverage at standardized conditions using A4,
8.5 x 11 in. Xerox® 20 lb. bond (75 g/m2) stock. Actual yields vary greatly depending on area
coverage, paper stock, and image quality control settings. Copy jobs versus print jobs can also
affect yield estimates. Toner Cartridge yield per bottle varies depending on area coverage
density setting, paper size, and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

S t a t i o n a r y S e r v i c e / O p e ra t i o n a l S p a c e
Stationary installations are used when placing the system in a fixed position at the installation site. A
stationary installation assumes that the system (print engine and all accessories) cannot move for
required service, and remains in that fixed position always. With a stationary installation, more space
is required in to accommodate servicing the machine, such as opening machine doors and the ability
of service personnel to remove larger components when required.
M o ve a b l e S e r v i c e / O p e ra t i o n a l S p a c e
Moveable installations can be considered ONLY if there is insufficient space to allow a stationary
installation. With a moveable installation, less space is required for servicing. With this smaller space,
the service personnel can be moved to various system components (print engine or accessories) when
servicing the machine to gain access to a specific component.
Note: If the moveable installation occurs on a carpeted floor, mobility plates can be used to
allow for serviceability of the system.
Movable Installations
The following configurations can be moved by one person, and can therefore be considered movable:
• A system consisting of an optional feeding device, the print engine, and the Booklet Maker
Finisher
• A system consisting of an optional feeding device, the print engine, Interface Module and the
High Capacity Stacker
Note: Larger systems must be considered stationary due to the amount of force required to
move the system.
1. Moveable installation dimensions can be used when the system is installed on a hard surface (concrete, wood,
and/or with mobility plates).

Install the mobility plates in locations where the floor has any type of carpeting or is on a surface
that restricts the movement of the printer. This includes, but is not limited to, flooring surfaces that
are rough, such as in damaged concrete or damaged wooden floors. Also, you can use the mobility
plates when the customer wants to distribute the weight of the system over a larger area, instead of
the point loads associated with the casters.
Order the appropriate quantity of B plates for the customer configuration. The following table shows
the number of mobility plates required for the base configuration.
The following table lists the number of extra plates required for the various optional devices.
Electrical Requirements
Note: All machine optional accessories and print servers should be placed within 6 feet (3
meters) of wall outlets. Ensure that there are enough wall outlets available for optional
accessories and the print server.
Note: The power cord configuration is different for each country in Europe.
E l e c t r i c a l S a fe t y
• Use only the power cord supplied with this equipment.
• Plug the power cord directly into a correctly grounded electrical outlet. Do not use an extension
cord. If you do not know if an outlet is grounded, consult a qualified electrician.
• Do not use a ground adapter plug to connect this equipment to an electrical outlet that lacks a
ground connection terminal.
WARNING: To avoid risk of fire or electrical shock, do not use extension cords, power
strips, or power plugs for more than 90 days. When a permanent outlet receptacle
cannot be installed, use only one factory-assembled extension cord of the appropriate
gauge for each printer or multifunction printer. Always adhere to national and local
building, fire, and electrical codes regarding length of cord, conductor size, grounding,
and protection.
• Do not place the machine where people can step or trip on the power cord.
• Do not place objects on the power cord.
• Do not override or disable electrical or mechanical interlocks.
• Do not obstruct the ventilation openings. These openings prevent overheating of the machine.
• Never push objects of any kind into slots or openings on this equipment. Making a contact with a
voltage point or shorting out a part can result in fire or electrical shock.

Extension cord information:
• Periodically extension cords are required. Electrical and local building and fire codes can be
adhered to in terms of length of cord, conductor size, and grounding. An extension cord can serve
only one device. Plug strips are not extension cords and can be used for computer applications.
• Extension cords can be used under the following circumstances:
– Extension cords can be used to facilitate demo situations where the customer does not have
an outlet receptacle at the location of the demo placement. All electrical and code
requirements apply.
– Where a temporary condition exists (90 days) at the customer site before a permanent outlet
receptacle is installed, an extension cord set can be used to get the customer up and running.
Typical situations include customer moves, remodeling, and recovery from fires or other
facility emergencies.
– For most copy and facsimile machines that require 20 amp service or less and where
permitted by the Authority Having Jurisdiction, extension cord sets can be used without
regard to length of time in service.
• Extension cords must meet the following requirements:
– The customer notifies the appropriate agencies (Authority Having Jurisdiction) such as the
local building inspector, insurance inspector, and fire inspector of the use of any extension
cord set if required by local law.
– The cord set used to supply power to our machine supplies power only to our machine.
– The cord set receptacle is a single outlet receptacle. The receptacle of the extension cord set
can be compatible with the machine plug (no adapters permitted).
– The cord set is of proper ampacity to carry the load over the distance/length needed. Length
is not to exceed 25 feet/7.62 meters. Cord conductors can be a minimum of AWG# 12 (16.1
to 20.0 amps), AWG # 14 for (12.1 to 16.0 amps), and AWG # 16 (7.1 to 12.0 amps) for 25
foot/7.62 meter lengths.
– The cord set has UL or CSA listing or both, and can have appropriate markings or labels such
as type (S, SO, ST, SJ, SJO, SJT for 20 amp capacity or less)
– The Plug and Connector are grounded and the polarity and continuity are checked prior to
placing the cord set in service.
– The cord set does not cross any aisles or walkways that are required exits. Where the
Authority Having Jurisdiction permits the use of extruded cord protectors, in an aisle or walk
way, only extruded cord protectors can be permitted as protection for the cord set. Cord sets
cannot be run under carpet, through walls, floors, windows or doorways, or overhead in ceiling
plenum space.
– The plug of the extension cord set can be compatible with the receptacle of the wall outlet
(no adapters permitted).
– The cord set can be a continuous length without splices or inline switches.

An acceptable indoor environment contributes to productivity, comfort, and a sense of health and
well being.
Ve n t i l a t i o n Ra t e Pr o c e d u r e
The minimum recommended exhaust rate for copy and printing rooms is 0.5 cfm/ft2 (cubic feet per
minute per square foot of floor space). This can be replaced with an equal volume of fresh, outside
air, or adequately filtered, recirculated air delivered with adequate mixing.
For office buildings, a minimum of 10% outside air is mixed generally with recirculated air. This is a
method of providing enough clean air to the space to be confident that emissions can be diluted to
acceptable levels.
* Above 32° C (90° F), reduced relative humidity is required to maintain the specific performance.
** Above 10,000 feet, equipment shutdown rates may increase.

Customer Expectations and Installation Guide
Installation Planning
I n d o o r a i r Q u a l i t y Pr o c e d u r e
This procedure ensures there is acceptable indoor air quality by directly controlling known and
specifiable air contaminants such as ozone, solvents, and odors released from specific locations. It
results in overall ventilation rates that are more, or less, than those called for by the Ventilation Rate
Procedure. However, changes in space use, contaminants or operation requires reevaluation of the
ventilation design. This is a method of removing emissions near their source to ensure that
acceptable levels are maintained in the workspace.
Ventilation kits are available for some Xerox printers and duplicators. These are exhaust ventilation
systems that remove air directly from the machine to an exterior location. When a ventilation kit is
installed, acceptable air quality associated with the usual emissions from the machine can be
achieved through proper application of the Indoor Air Quality Procedure.
Ro o m A i r C h a n g e s p e r H o u r
Some customers are more comfortable measuring ventilation in Room air Changes per Hour (RCH).
The ventilation rate specified in the Ventilation Rate Procedure can be expressed in RCH, but this
depends on the room ceiling height as well as the floor area.
For a room having a floor-to-ceiling height of H feet, the recommended minimum ventilation rate of
0.5 cfm/ft2 works out to (30 ÷ H) air changes per hour.
The following illustration shows the recommended hourly air changes for several typical room ceiling
heights.
Network Requirements
