    A GOOD JOB
    In the past when married couples had problems they usually split up or continued to
    live together in an unhappy relationship. These days couples, married or not, can get
    advice on their problems from many sources. A lot of them come to me.
    I’m a counsellor and I’m trained to listen to couples with problems. Then I try to advise
    them on the best way forward. One of my main tasks is to get people to talk – to each
    other and to me. Often a relationship has problems because people keep all their
    feelings inside. If we talk about things, we can often find an answer.
    It’s also important to realise that we’re not all perfect. We all make mistakes. But we
    need to say sorry and talk about how we can prevent these mistakes from happening
    again. This can make a relationship stronger.
    I don’t always succeed in helping people to stay together. Sometimes it’s better for the
    couple to split up and start new lives apart. But it helps everyone if the break-up can be
    friendly, especially for any children involved.
    I love my job. I meet all sorts of people and it’s generally very rewarding.

    Hi Alex, Do you remember when we used to talk about that perfect place where one
    should spend some days for a holiday? Well, I have decided to go on a trip to this
    wonderful resort, not very far from home, before I go back to work. Unfortunately, as I
    am writing you this letter, I am not quite having the time of my life. I had only bad luck
    in this trip. First of all I spent 3 hours more on the road, because the bus got some
    problems with the engine, if you can imagine, and we had to find a service that could
    fix it. After that,when we finally got to the destination, we found out that we were to late
    for dinner and we will get no food until the next morning. This wouldn't have been so
    hard to handle, if it weren't for the lack of warm water in the bathroom. Imagine I had to
    take a shower with cold water! And as if this weren't enough, the mini-trips that were
    included in the price were cancelled because of the weather. It has been raining all day
    and i have heard tomorrow will be the same. So I have to spend all my time to the
    hotel, maybe playing some pool or swimming. Luckily we have these choices. But,
    sincerely, I am eager to go home, because this is not what I had expected from this
    journey. I hope next time I will make a better choice, but until then I wish you all the
