1.0 PURPOSE

1.1 Define a procedure to provide a proper and efficient sequence of work for the installation of
steel grating supports at transformer oil pit area which are required to be perform in safely
manner in accordance to the project specifications Saudi Aramco and other relevant industry code
& standard

2.0 SCOPE

2.1 This method statement will cover the work associated with the installation of steel support
(channels, end plates and angle) for steel grating of transformer oil pit area at Marjan increment
program package 12 in conformance to the contract scope of work. This shall be read in
conjunction with the other approval method statement and project specification. In the event of
conflict with the other, the most stringent shall govern

4.0 RESPONSIBILITY

Designation Responsibility

4.1 Project Manager is responsible for implementation


of all HSE requirements; he shall study, analyze and schedule
all construction activities with his department to include
Project Manager manpower and equipment line up as well as other possible
resources required for the successful implementation of the
construction work activities. Study all aspects of work procedure
as per Project Technical Scope of Work.

4.2 Construction Manager shall study and review all necessary


documents for the erection works in his area to include,
technical scope of work, specification, bill of quantities,
planned milestone dates and construction procedure in
support to his Foreman. He shall monitor the availability of
Construction Manager materials in accordance with the schedules and construction
analysis. He shall be directly reporting to the Project Manager.
He shall coordinate with other discipline to visualize possible
conflicts in the drawings as well as in the schedules to
provide other options in preventing unnecessary delays
obstructions.

QC Manager 4.3 The QA/QC Manager is responsible for ensuring that the

Designation Responsibility

quality management system (QMS) is fully implemented in an


organized and efficient manner. The QA/QC Manager is
responsible for delegating and assigning tasks to QA/QC
Supervisors and working closely with related engineering,
construction, fabrication, and repair departments. Manage and
oversee project quality to ensure compliance to codes,
standards, regulations, equipment specific specifications, and
QMS requirements

4.4 Site Engineer- Civil shall be responsible for the direct work
supervision at site and ensure that the work is performed in
accordance with Contractor and company Technical Scope of
Site Engineer- Civil
Work and latest approved for construction drawings. He
shall monitor the availability of materials in line with his required
schedule.

4.5 QC Inspector shall be responsible in monitoring and


QC Inspector – Civil inspection of the work and ensure that the work is performed in
accordance with Project Technical Scope of Work and Standards.

4.6 Safety Engineer/Supervisor shall be responsible in


monitoring safety aspects and ensuring that the work is done
in accordance with Saudi Aramco Safety Standard Procedure.
Site Safety Officer
He shall discuss to the workers the- characteristics of related
materials and status of work area giving reminders as an
additional point to work safely.

4.7 Surveyor shall study and analyze if the location where the
structure should be installed satisfies the condition or restriction
Surveyor of erection works on site. He shall coordinate with other
discipline to visualize possible conflicts in the drawings as well as
in the schedules to provide other options in preventing
Unnecessary delays obstructions.

Supply and fabrication of frame from carbon steel MC6x163 replaced with Jis C150x75x5.7x10

7.0 METHOD / PROCEDURE

7.1 Preparation Works

7.1.1 Secure work permit from Construction Representative prior to start of


work/activity.

7.1.2 Prepare all materials, tools and equipment needed for the job.

7.1.3 Deliver all materials intended for gratings or floor plates.

7.1.4 Position mobile crane (If required) on the assembly area.

7.1.5 General. Gratings or floor plates to be installed in structure shall be installed after
erection, alignment and bolt tightening of the main structural members with
scaffolding platform

7.1.6 Prior to erect the structure, scaffold access and platform should be installed.
Scaffold will serve as the access, working platform and anchorage point for
Full Body harness if permanent rails, access and platform are not installed.
If structure is already installed without scaffold, scaffold installation shall
Commence immediately.

7.1.6.2 Installation of grating will be done manually:

 Install barricade at area covered of grating installation with proper signage’s “danger
on-going grating installation”.
 No simultaneous activity (working at same location and different level), it is
strictly prohibited.

7.1.7 Repair or replace members which are damaged during Installation. Do not secure
damaged members in position.

7.2.1 As mentioned in 12-SAMSS-007 Sec. 5.2.7, when damaged painting or


galvanized surface on steel structure is observed, and the unpainted area by
masking at connection is exposed, surface shall be touch-up.

7.2.2 All repaired, reworked, damage galvanized steel supports and gratings will be
coated as per applicable coating system.

8.0 QUALITY CONTROL

8.1 QC Inspector / QC Supervisor will be assigned to attend to the quality control and
assurance of this work.

8.2 QC Inspector shall be responsible to conduct all required inspection as detailed in


the IFC to ensure that all applicable requirements, codes and standards are
complied with.

8.3 QC Inspector will produce all the documents attesting to the acceptability of the
works and submits to contractor.

8.4 QC Inspector has to utilize the applicable SATIP’s & SAIC’s for every activity

 The HSE shall perform a splendid role in all construction activities to ensure that all
the works are being carried out in a safe manner and creating a healthy environment
at the site. All activities shall be carried out safely in accordance with CONTRACTOR
approved CSSP and relevant SACSM requirements.

 Daily toolbox meetings shall be conducted as mandatory, educating skilled personnel


& labors about evacuation drills, motivates them to use proper and appropriate PPE
for the job.

 Work Permits (WP) shall be obtained from the relevant authorities thru the assistance
of the Contractor. The WP shall always be available during the work execution.

 Approved Job Safety Analysis (JSA) must be discussed by Site Engineer/Safety Officer
to the Working Team before the activity starts. Each personnel must be aware of all
hazards associated with the Works. And since JSA is an active document, it may
change accordingly as the work progresses.

 Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPE) shall be provided and required, varying and
appropriate to type of Works. Safety Belts, with associated harness and lifeline shall
be provided for the personnel working at heights.

 All tools & equipment should be checked prior to commencing any work and at the
end of any work to report any defect or damage that may have occurred during an
activity.

 Hand tools should be inspected on a regular basis and be in good working condition.

 All workers shall have working at heights training prior to working at heights. To
ensure that all workers working at heights shall wear full body harness with 100% tie
off.

 All workers shall have Chemical Handling Training prior to start the work.

 Any incident at site shall be immediately reported to client and recorded. Weekly
Safety Statistics Reports and Safety Performance Reports, etc. shall be prepared and
recorded.
