Science and Technology

Science and technology are interdependent, as technology relies on scientific concepts and principles to advance. While science and technology can build humanity through tools and innovations, they also have the potential to destroy humanity if turned towards harmful purposes, as humans are flawed and even our creations may eventually cause harm due to natural deterioration over time. Overall, science and technology are a double-edged sword that both enable and threaten humanity.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

(1) There can never be technology without science.

- Technology is built out of the key concepts and principles that science
explores – even the tools that science, itself, provides. The wider the field
of scope that science navigates, the more technology advances. With that
said, I agree with this statement. This is proven in the early times. There
are no traces of technology that date back during Jurassic era because
although matter exists, not a single organism can dissect them for
research. The moment our ancestors bred into existence, a specie that
withholds intellectual capabilities thus comprehend science, they have built
tools out of fire, sticks, and stones. Early civilizations then acquired more
inventions from basic tools which then transcend to machineries that
allowed us to conduct more scientific investigations and experiments.

(2) Science and Technology can build and destroy humanity.

- Yes, although Science and Technology are tools for building our society, it
can also lead us to our doom. I have this notion that says, “Humans are
flawed, whatever comes from them are meant to be the very thing that they
are.” It will make and break us because these things eventually revert to a
form that can cause harm to our vulnerability – because they’ve been
scientifically proven to disintegrate overtime due to natural phenomena.
The very reason why we research and invent is to make our way of living
easy, to protect ourselves from the threats and survive. Therefore, even
though we come up with objects to heed our needs, even without intending
to use them for destruction, we are bound to suffer out of our mortality.
